Why does Minecraft freeze when I try to update?

I need Help! Ever since a failed Minecraft modding attempt, when I try to update the game, it freezes! What's happening? What can I do? I already tried deleting my .minecraft and updating from old files. It always freezes around 8-11%. I really want to play Minecraft. Please help!

Ok here is what I suggest, delete the entire .minecraft folder and even the launcher. that includes the mods and texture packs you might have in there.

Download the launcher again. and run it from scratch.

The launcher has an options button with a big "Force update!" button in it along with a direct link to the .minecraft folder for any troubleshooting.

Read up on whatever mod you are using and dont install it again without checking to see if maybe this is a common problem for the mod involved.

If all else fails, get on 'dat forum dawg.
