Why I got banned from Gamefaqs/Gamespot

First off hello all! As you can tell I'm new to the forum. I've been looking for a new place to keep up with all of the MK news, since I recently got banned from Gamespot.

Since you clicked on the thread I guess your probably curious why. Well to be honest I am too! lol It's kind of funny/messed up...

One day I made a completely average post, and the next day I was suspended indefinitely. I'd like to think it was mistake, but I don't really see how it could have been. More likely I think a mod just decided he felt like being a d***. Here's the screen shot of the message I got:

I sent a polite message asking to have my account unlocked, now after about a week I've given up and that's how I ended up here. I'm looking forward to becoming a part of the community. And I just needed to share this ridiculousness with other people.

Welcome to MKO! I'm relatively new as well! Sorry about you being banned from the other site. I don't see why you have been unless you posted in a completely different thread than what you were talking about. I'm pretty sure we're more fun here anyway! lol

WTF? Some mods will find any idiotic reason to ban anyone on certain forums. I used to be apart on a forum where you'll get banned if you disagree with the mods on any subject. Thankfully, that forum got shut down ages ago.

You were probably banned for not "properly answering a question." Failing to do so is apparently against GameSpot Forum rules. This should be more of a helpful forum tip, not a forum rule.
Anyways, Welcome to MKO. While MKO also have order here, the mods and admins are not unnecessarily strict like GameSpot, enjoy your stay.

Thanks for the welcome guys! I've been finding my way around the boards it's definitely a pretty cool forum. It will also be nice to not have the MvC3 guys come on the board to talk so much shit like at gamespot lol.

The reason you were suspended indefinitely has to do with how you said what you did.

The topic is "How old are you and your first MK game?"

Under the Terms of Service at both GameFAQs and Gamespot, you have to be at least 13 years old to register and post on the forums. The way you answered the topic question implies you currently are six or seven years old, and thus why action was taken.

The issue here is that six and seven year olds do not usually post on internet forums anyway and you could have easily misread the topic. Even if they were somehow required to give you an infraction, indefinite suspension is way too harsh. But hey, that's what happens when your site is owned by big business with a legal team trying to cover their ass at every angle.

Welcome to MKO, where the mods are lenient and an active part of the community.
