I got this notification yesterday that they would like to schedule the upgrade to W10 next Monday at 11 pm. Does that mean it will be installed automathically, even if I click on "Do not Schedule"?

You work with what you got...not what you hope for.

It's optional, but Microsoft has been super shady about tricking people into upgrading. Tread lightly.

A few weeks ago my laptop started auto-upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 without my permission. I was unable to do anything for ~1.5h as the cpu was downloading files needed for the upgrade (my screen was switched from the desktop to the black screen with the notification that the upgrade is in progress). While the files were downloading I googled on my smartphone WTF was going on and read that once the download finishes and CPU returns to the desktop there would be an EULA pop-up message that you can decline to revert back to your original configuration. So I declined and then it took some additional 30 minutes or so for the CPU to go back to Windows 8.1.

I also installed GWX control panel from the web. With that tool I was able to get rid of the 'Update to Windows 10' pop-up notification that would show up every day and was able to delete all the files that were downloaded for the upgrade to Windows 10 and I also disabled upgrading to Windows 10.

That auto-upgrade to Win10 that started without any kind of message/question asking me whether I even want to upgrade was the most insolent thing I have ever experienced when it comes to computers. Luckily, it happened at the time when I didn't need my PC for anything important/urgent. Either way, I went crazy.
My mom was telling me over Skype, she was having problems with it in recent months.
Her computer got fucked up, n she has to use her wife's computer to talk to me.
Looked it up, n tons of other people are having problems too.

Also, apparently it's only free right now, you'll have to pay out the ass to install it soon.
