Ummm they are backed by freaking Microsoft! They have more money than the paper that exists to print it on. I'm sure X-Box is gonna be here a loooong time.

If you wanna play games get PS2, X-Box is a decent console but it really doesn't have a solid gaming future like PS2.

I would go with the PS2. I have a 'Cube and PS2 and I've borrowed a friends X-Box every once in a while. The thing is it is really what you like. If you like FPS, stable online play, and like the big controller the X-box would be for you. Both have hardrives (PS2's is currently only available with FF XI), both play DVDs. But if you're like me watch DVD's on a DVD player. Both have the same breakdown problem, both it is found more often in a PS2(but if you're getting a new one you'll be fine). Both have exclusives, but the PS2 ones seem just a little better. X-box's best titles are usually look better as PC games. PS2 is an accesory machine, meaning if you wanna play online you are gonna have to shell out another $50 bucks for a network adapter....Your best bet is to list what games you like, and then we would be able to then provide you with the info you want man.

Well fighting games goes to PS2
Shooting games goes to X-Box
Racing Games goes to X-Box
RPG's goes to PS2
Basketball games goes to PS2 only due to controls and the fact that EA only does PS2 online. But there are online B-ball games for X-box too, but if you're a fan of EA titles then PS2 is the better choice........Just as a side note, the best RPGs available aren't on any of the top three consoles, they are on the GBA. Get yourself a GBA or a GBA player and the following games: Fire Emblem, Golden Sun, and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. These are the three best RPGs I've played that we're released in 03.
