Good God. If you have young kids, please do not bring them out to restaurants. I work at a restaurant right now while I seek better employment. The kids come in and annoy me, my coworkers, and everyone else in the establishment. Then they also make a huge mess.

What if it was someone trying to have a nice meal at the end of hard day, and instead they have to endure your screaming, crying, and obnoxious child? Please leave the kids at home. It's really truly terrible.

Rant over.

In the end, the parents are merely embarassing themselves. I find it inconsiderate of them to drag their kids into a nice restaurant when their children are acting like that. I can understand they want to try and have a nice evening with their kids, but they are doubtfully enjoying themselves if their kids are screaming and behaving badly. It's not fun for the kids, it's not fun for the parents, and it is not fun for the people around them, as you said, the other customers and the staff overall.

There are family restaurants made for families, so why not go there instead? And if they can get a nanny for their kids one evening, then the parents can go to a nice restaurant themselves and actually enjoy their evening together.

However, if it is a family restaurant you are working at, you really don't have the right to complain about it. You forgot to mention what kind of restaurant you work in, but from what you wrote, I take it that you work in a finer restaurant not really made for families with small kids.

They're children. How do you want them to act?

Children are children, it isn't their fault. It's the parents' fault, really.

I was just kidding. Thus the grin.

And actually, it can happen. Like you have already stated yourself, a child's parents affect him greatly.

I know of a few children who act respectful, kind, and aren't always hyper. Hell, I would even call them laid back, and fun to talk to. Wise beyond their years, if you will.

It all depends on how they were raised, and in this case, I would say they have great parents.

THIS^^... I couldn't really have said it better myself.....

if your child is known to act like ^^ at restaurants then please do yourself and everyone there a favor and not bring them.... it stresses people out.... but really it just depends on the kid. Some kids behave themselves and others just can't. I know from experience with all my nieces and nephews.....some I simply WILL NOT go out to eat with... I tell my siblings straight up to their face "NO, I'm not going out if you're brining him/her" and they completely understand. Even if it was my own child I wouldn't be mad if someone told me that...if they were bad I would admit it and be like 'ya, they're bad as hell'..... but like J-R said, if it's a family oriented restaurant then....well... too bad lol

Since Zero felt the need to make a rant thread about it... Yes.
Some parents just don't have the decency (or intelligence) to know it is unwise to drag a screaming child into a fine restaurant.

I just had a stressful day today capped off by screaming f*cking kids. Wanted to shoot them in the face at point blank range, but instead I let them live and made a rant thread.

Naw I work at a fast food joint, but still even poor people want to enjoy a meal ya know?

I mean, go drive through eh?

Kids will be kids. Its a part of life. Sure they can be annoying sometimes but they are just kids. You really can't expect much from kids

You work in a fast food joint and you complain about screaming kids?

If you had worked in a fine restaurant, I would have understood your complaints, but when working in a fast food joint, then you don't really have a right to complain. If it really bothers you, then quit your job and find something else where there aren't any screaming kids...

I use to work at both Mr. Ghattis and then later Pizza Hut years ago when I was going to school. At Mr. Ghattis children weren't problem. Too much stuff to keep em out of trouble (ie cartoon room, game room) where at Pizza Hut they were nothing but a nightmare.

Not sure about in your area, but where I'm at it seems that parents just ignore what their children are doing until there is a loud thump followed by a kid wailing with a bloody nose or forehead because he/she ran into the edge of something. I've seen kids sneeze, rub their noses and then go play with the stuff on the salad bar. Not eat, but just dig through the salad, seeds, etc I have never eaten at a salad bar since.

If the place you are going is not kid friendly, either don't take the kid or bring something for them to do while there. Trust me, unlike adults kids don't like sitting around just chatting after a meal. Freshly fueled up they are ready to be off running and playing. If they're the type or young enough, bring coloring books. Let them bring their gameboy/PSP anything to keep them seated until you are ready to leave.

Dude, if you work at a fast food place, you might as well complain about every customer.

My thoughts exactly. When we were kids, I doubt most of us were always quiet, well behaved and never doing annoying stuff.

Not to mention, if you work at a restaurant, especially a fast food chain, this stuff comes with the territory.

I used to work at Pizza Hut, I did deliveries and worked in the story, kids weren't always a picnic, but I didn't really care, kids are supposed to be energetic and a bit nutty, I had kids asking me strange questions and playing tricks (i.e. hiding and popping out to give me the money).

I think kids get harsh criticism for essentially notihng, kids don't bother me much, it's annoying adults that bother me.

Who the fuck in his or her right mind would bring a 1-4 year old to a fast food restaurant? To eat?

You might as well give them arsenic.

This is not much of an issue over here, generally kids here are more -well, it is not the best choice of word, but yeah- disciplined.

Same with museums, you bring in the butthead brigade who cannot stop snickering at the sight of boobs according to Foamy. Again, nudity is not something that is a problem here.

OR something to be ashamed of, the USA is truly fucked up from what I read everyday...

I agree with everyone in this thread about the subject. I got nothing to contribute because everyone else said it better.

Give Zero a break, these are tough times in the U.S. he would get a better job if he was able to find one. These are tough times, I fear for my own future, I'm not yet old enough to get a job yet, but I know I'm going to have to get one in a few years, and I don't think it'll get any better in the U.S. when I start trying to find a job. EDIT: I agree with Chrome, I'm thinking the U.S.A. is getting more and more f***ed up with each passing week, and I live in the United States!

I'm glad the rest of the world doesn't have issues and isn't getting messed up everyday, just the United States.

I am in no way trying to offend Zero about his job chice.

I was saying that annoying kids come with the package.

I've worked at a fast food joint.

^ truth. And Espio, come on man. No need to get mad about the America thing.

Fact is, not a lot of people care about an issue unless it hits close to home and honestly there's not much we can do to help OTHER countries. Lord knows that for some odd reason the government's been ignoring it's own country's problems and trying to police the fucking world forever. Idiots.

And yes, kids in ANY establishment being a total wank makes me want to bust out an X-Ray Attack on their fucking parents. It would reduce the child to tears and I feed off of their tears, making it a non-issue. grin

I'm not mad, I just thought it was irrelevant, pointless and really an unneeded remark.

Rest assured, nobody has actually ever seen me mad on this forum. And I'm well aware of the faults of this country and if this thread was about politics, I would discuss them, but it's not it's about young children in restaurants.

I'm fiercely opposed to most of this stuff you mentioned. I'm a Libertarian, but this is not a political discussion, so I'm done with the subject. If a thread comes up or via PM I have no problem discussing these matters, but out of respect for Zero and the topic at hand, I'm going to leave it alone.
