We've all done it... we've all played a bad game before once in our lifetime.

But sometimes there's something good buried inside. Something that might even make you finish the game, maybe more than once, even when you know that the game itself is pretty bad.

So, whether it's eating swimmers in JAWS: Unleashed or kicking Ewoks in Force Unleashed 2, what are your favorite moments from bad games you've played?

Here's a few of mine:

Perfect Dark Zero - "The Club Scene" - If there's one thing I loved about the movie Collateral, it was the scene where Tom Cruise assassinates someone in a club with music playing, lights flashing, and bodyguards getting broken and bullets flying. Perfect Dark Zero predates that scene with its own club shootout with a surprisingly catchy dance song that makes the shoot out the one scene that truly stands out in my mind that I legitimately enjoyed. The rest of the game? Nowhere close to that.

Final Fantasy XIII - "The World of Pulse" - For nearly 30 hours, I slavishly marched forward, auto-battled my way through monsters, endured painfully generic cutscenes with forgettable characters... it was endless and unbearable. But then... chapter 11. Pulse. A massive world of free-roam adventure full of towering titans, gigantic dinosaurs, flying dragons, savage packs of animals, secrets hidden all over the place, missions to save lost adventurers... it was a whole new game. A game I enjoyed FAR more than the hours leading up to it, and even the hours following it. Chapter 11 and Post-game is on its own an amazing game; shame they had to stuff it full of nearly 35 hours of junk I could have done without.

Ninja Gaiden Black - "The Badass Moment" - Ninja Gaiden is hard. Really hard. Even on its easiest setting, it's still harder than most games on their hardest setting. It demands far more out of most people than they're willing to put into the game, and I haven't actually worked up the nerve to finish the second half of the game after a troublesome match against Alma. So why play it at all? The "zen" moment. That moment when I combo'ed one ninja into the air, leaped off his friend, cut him down mid-air, hit a wall, flipped off the wall, killed another ninja with shurikens, then decapitated a fourth adversary while a rocket soared just over my head, missing me by inches, leading to an explosion behind me as I impaled the last survivor and sheathed my sword. I screamed "hell yeah!"... and then died the very next hallway. Badass Moments are few and fleeting in the game.

P.N.03 - "Dance baby" - By all accounts, this game kind of blows... but there's a lot to love about it. Mainly Vanessa Schneider's glorious gyrating glutes. In the pantheon of beautiful video game butts, Vanessa's curvy cheeks outshine Mass Effect's Miranda, Tomb Raider's Lara, and even "made her with a nice butt in mind" Bayonetta. Her rear is hypnotic and probably lead to more than a few game over screens for many who were too distracted by her sensuous sways to pay attention to the oncoming laser blasts.

Silent Hill 4 - "I drank too much..." - Silent Hill 4 is actually one of my favorite games, and I still hate it immensely. Unkillable enemies that hurt you by being NEAR you and follow you through walls? Limited inventory? Repeating every level twice WITH an escort mission for half the game (AND she's slow as molasses)? It's a frustrating game. But the story is SO good, the atmosphere SO creepy, the music SO amazing, and the small moments SO effective, that it almost balances out. Moments with Eileen in the hospital, the story of Walter Sullivan, the discovery of the orphanage... but one of the best moments comes early on, with Cynthia. It's bloody. It's brutal. It's tragic. And despite such little screentime, it's powerful, effective, and highly memorable. If the entire game had lived up to that initial moment, it would be one of the greatest games ever. It doesn't, but that doesn't make that moment any less powerful.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter - An extremely bad single player campaign (awesome multiplayer and co-op campaign) was hit with one of the most shocking and memorable sequences in modern gaming. As the Ghosts make their way through Mexico City toward the US embassy it suddenly explodes in a gigantic deafening explosion.

This is followed shortly by a desperate last stand type of defense of the shattered embassy to protect the Mexican Vice President, the four man Ghost team aided only by a handful blast shaken Marines.

The rebel forces attack with a platoon size infantry force supported by armored trucks and later a stolen M1A1 Abrams tank. Just when it seems hopeless a friendly AH-64D Apache Longbow enters the battlespace and kills the tank allowing the Ghosts and their HVI to exfil in a Blackhawk.

Too bad the rest of the game is vomit inducing to old school Ghost Recon fans like myself. =/

First and foremost: Good thread idea

Only good thing in the whole game.

Garlador: I totally agree on Cynthia's death! That was in my personal opinion one of the absolute best death scenes in a game. Especially a horror game. And the thing is u cant just youtube it,you gotta live it. U gotta meet her, she's ur companion, u dont know if she's gonna stick around the whole game Mary stile. U get phone calls from her asking for help. U dont expect to suddenly BAM, die in such a human way... that you just know it's not like Mary;s deaths and that she will come back... you know cynthia is dead... and you cant do SHIT about it.

Silent Hill: Homecoming - The game kinda sucks.... but there are some col scenes like the when u first see a creature through the ice... but thats about it... the gameplay is tedious and kinda boring.

I gotta add: Goldeneye remake, the game kinda blew... but the scene where Trevelyan "dies" was pretty cool

Speaking of Homecoming (I think you meant Shattered Memories by the way Kam) I loved the The hospital/Hell/Scarlet level. F.E.A.R 2: Walking through the destroyed city right to the center of the explosion following a ghostly image of your missing squadmate was the only high point of that disappointing game.
