Captain Marvel and Raven confirmed?
01/18/2013 09:15 PM EST
Jaeroar tweeted the Xbox magazine talks about a playthrough they experienced that included characters such as Raven and Captain Marvel!

What do you guys think? This kinda of threw a wrench in my prediction list.

Sounds good to me. Captain Marvel/Shazam was fun in MKvsDC, and Raven could be interesting. Good for the Teen Titan fans. Cyborg, Deathstroke, and now Raven.

Like other "confirmations", we've got to respect the doubt. These characters are confirmed to make appearances in the game, but not necessarily as playable inclusions. Even if it's a pretty safe call.

Now, Aquaman. He's definitely in.

This is very true. Though characters such as Aquaman and Doomsday (who's essentially been confirmed) were mentioned originally in no more than an appearance capacity have now been confirmed. Also, I find it hard to believe Warner Bros. marketing team would allow magazines to mention popular characters like Captain Marvel, Black Adam, Sinestro, ect. only to be cameos that needlessly get fans' hopes up just to dash them. It really serves no purpose. I could be wrong, however.

Well, who knows how much WB knows about what they write. They could have saw them and just assumed they are playable, and while trying to write out their thoughts from what they remember seeing, they just mentioned them. I mean, unless it's confirmed 100%, I wouldn't take it as such.

(Edit's Have Been Made.)

It feels more and more likely that MM won't make this games roster. I hope I'm wrong and he shows up. But things not looking good for him, With the recent reveals. That would make 5 slots left? And ed has said theirs more Females coming. Anyway... Making him DLC is gonna break me. He should not be treated like this. Especially when almost every member from the JLA is present & he's not. Like I said, I'd love to eat my words. But It's weird, this game is aimed at lesser known characters, how much lesser unknown would anyone want? He's already over shadowed by every JLA member making this games initial roster already. I apologize, It's just really hard to ignore right now. I'm a mix of worried and disappointed to see this course of treatment he's getting. All the teasing up til this point, if it was only to say he's DLC. ... I really have nothing else left to say. Sad day for this fan.

I just had to express this after seeing those Newly confirmed characters in those scans. This was bugging me big time today, and had to speak my mind. This is not a random rant, this one had purpose and meaning behind it. Rest assured.

I agree with MINION, why are NRS putting in these lesser known characters? Aries and Raven so let me guess is Crazy Quilt also gonna be in the main roster? It's really sad to know that NRS has a big ass roster of superheroes and villains then they choose characters from the D-List furious

It really pisses me off to see great characters like Martian Manhunter, Gorilla Grodd, Lobo, Hawkgirl, Black Canary and Blue Beetle being overlooked and becoming maybes for DLC., smh furious

Thanks man, and yes. It doesn't make sense. We have like all the original batman characters, Bats, Jokes, Harley, Bane, Night. Then Teen Titans we got Cyborg, Deathstroke, Raven? Not sure if that's a soon to be confirm. And then we got JLA, Aqua, Bats, Sups, WW, Flash, GL. AND... Guess who's missing?

Exactly... Like I said, this would be such a crushing blow for him to be put at DLC status. Especiall when everyone else is making the cut. I guess in a way, I do take this serious to an extent. I feel naked without him announced or even mentioned in the confirmations. Either he's being built up for a Very Hype reveal or he's getting thrown to the back of the line. Either way, I hope whatever is chosen isn't something degrading.

Like I said in the other thread...there's more factors playing into who they choose than just "who would be cool to include?"

For all we know, Martian Manhunter may just not fit into the story, thus not making him required to be on the main roster. Maybe they are saving a few characters, that they know will sell decently, for DLC. You can't give all the main people in the main game, otherwise who's going to buy DLC? Maybe they are having a hard time balancing out the character, or he was the last to be polished thus not announced yet. Lastly, maybe DC just doesn't want him included. At the end of the day, DC gets final say who gets to be used. NRS could want someone in the game all they want, but if DC says "no", there's nothing more they can do.

On top of that, nothing says he won't make it. Who they announce and in what order, has nothing to do with big characters to smaller, or anything like that. Heck, one of the JLA originals, Aquaman, was left out of MKvsDC, and just a couple days ago got announced. Meanwhile, Hawkman is nowhere to be found. Same with Hawkgirl. What about all the Robin fans? Sure, Nightwing is in, but that's not Robin, it's Nightwing. What about Watchmen fans, highly unlikely they'll ever get the rights for any of them.

I want him included too, but you can't get so bothered by this. If he's meant to be in the game, he'll be in it. It's not like they are saying "we want him in, but nah we'll pass". Either they have a spot for him and he'll make it, he wasn't able to be used, or they just couldn't find anywhere for him to fit, and passed on him for someone who could serve more of a purpose. Which he could be DLC.

There's nothing wrong with DLC. At least it's something. It is no disrespect at all. You are only taking it as such because you had your heart set on him, when you knew full well his inclusion is just as up in the air as about 20-30 others.

MM fans aren't the only ones to have someone left out. DC has SO many characters, there's bound to be some disappointments. Not just on the lesser knowns either. Like I said before, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Power Girl, Gorilla Grodd, Batgirl, Robin, R'as Al Ghul, Riddler, Supergirl, Swamp Thing...there's so many people out there, and they all have their diehard fans.

Lastly, you have to accept, MM isn't the most well known character. He isn't on the level of Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, or a handful of Batman characters. I'm not saying he's unimportant or unknown, i'm saying you have to be real with yourself. Ask someone who doesn't read the comics, and just likes the movies, occasional video game, or the cartoons...and he probably wouldn't even make their top 20. He's much more favored to those that read the comics, and are familiar with the Justice League wuite a bit. You don't go to the store and see MM merch. Many kids 17 or younger prob. have no idea.

That's no discredit to him, it's just the way it is. That's the case with A LOT of the characters. DC does a poor job marketing outside the main few.

You just gotta chill and not let it get the best of you. You run that risk when your favorite isn't a "given" character. Same with Stryker in MK. You find the less popolar characters, you have to know their chances just aren't as likely.

In conclusion, I DO hope he makes it. There's still a few spots left up for grabs. I'm not saying give up all hope, but to put all your hopes into one character, make or break, that's not a good idea.

I think you're misunderstanding where I'm coming from. It's not like It was 1 character from the JLA made the game. If it had been 1, I could see his chances being dim. But they got thee Entire JLA in there excluding J'onn. You see what I'm saying? It's almost the entire group. Except 1. It's like a broken circle. How i see it. And as for these other characters, sure I'm glad they're in. But MKvsDCU gave us these popular characters already. I was really hoping since MM got bypassed in MKDCU this would be his limelight chance. You of all people should know why I take this so harshly. It's not the first time I brought this up.

Look:

http://www.mortalkombatonline.com/content/forum/showmessage.cds?id=112703

My post in there was from 2008, and even then I was acknowledged for interest in the character. If anyone has been patient for MM's arrival in a game. I been that and much more. But MKvsDCU is past man, you can see now why I carry this over my shoulder with such volume. I accepted the fact he wasn't in the last game. There's no reason he shouldn't be now. He's not been used for anything major. In-fact he wasn't even an Optional Mentor for DCUOnline. It just feels like this character is not needed for anything except cameos and short ends of the stick. Maybe you see it different, but that's What i see.

If DLC this wait will be strenuous.

Well since my girlfriend told me to calmed me down and it's not the end of the world, I've had some time to think about it and I agree with you that most people don't know who Martian Manhunter is. I also realize that there are other fans who want there characters in the game too, which most of the ones you named, I believe should be in like Gorilla Grodd, Power Girl, Hawkgirl and Swamp Thing.

I think that there are a few characters that belong on the main roster and not DLC, don't get me wrong I really like DLC and it' always nice to add on stuff to a great game like I know Injustice is going to be. I also believe that Ed Boon once stated that Aquaman was going to be DLC for MK vs DC along with Quan Chi, Harley Quinn, Cyrax, Killer Croc, Reptile, Nightwing, Kung Lao, Doomsday, Johnny Cage.

Ed Boon has also stated that DC Comics had given NetherRealm a large amount of freedom with their properties, allowing his team to put who ever they wanted and their own spin on iconic DC characters.

I also understand that if you go to any store and there won't be any MM merch there but what about Gorilla Grodd? There are TONS of Grodd merch out there and he's been in alot of other video games like Lego Batman 2, DC Universe Online and Batman: The Brave and the Bold but seems to be missing in Injustice.

Well in my conclusion, I still think that Grodd, Martian Manhunter, Lobo, Blue Beetle, Swamp Thing, Power Girl and Hawkgirl will be apart of Injustice's DLC. I understand that there are a few spots left up for the game but after hearing about all these characters, they are 15 characters confirmed and 10 characters hinted at which leaves us at 25 characters for Injustice.

Confirmed:
Bane
Batman
Catwoman
Cyborg
Deathstroke
Flash
Green Arrow
Green Lantern
Harley Quinn
Joker
Lex Luthor
Nightwing
Solomon Grundy
Superman
Wonder Womam

Hinted:
Aquaman
Sinestro
Black Adam
Shazam
Ares
Doomsday
Martian Manhunter
Captain Cold
Raven
The Penguin

I just think it's different for me, because i'm looking at it through a 3rd person perspective, not one that's clouded by my love for the character. He's your favorite, obviously you are going to lose a bit of rationality because you are getting so emotionally attached to his inclusion. I, on the other hand, would love to have him in( http://www.mortalkombatonline.com/content/forum/showmessage.cds?id=145724&page;=3 scroll to my initial impressions and roster prediction when it was first announced, he was my 3rd choice to be included), but I don't have all this pent up frustration and hopes built up that he makes it. I hope he does, but it's not the end of the world if he doesn't. I know if he doesn't make it, there's probably a good reason behind it. They don't just dismiss characters for the heck of it. If the story could use him, and they are allowed to use him, he'll make it.

It's apparent to me that you are just taking it way too personally. As if someone is spitting in your face or something, when at the end of the day, it's just a game. It's a character. You gotta be more chill, and try and find others that you enjoy so that your hopes aren't all riding on one character. That's just setting yourself up for disappointment. I'm excited for most of the roster. If Batman wasn't in for some reason, i'd have Catwoman, Superman, Joker, Bane, Nightwing, Green Arrow...etc. I usually enjoy most characters and get excited about them all. Not to say I don't have my favorites, but it's not like my favorite in MK has never been left out either. I'm a Cyrax fan, and he wasn't in MK4, MK:D, or MKvsDC. Not to worry, because I also enjoy Sub-Zero, Liu, Sektor, Kano, Scorpion, Ermac, Baraka etc. as well. I don't put all my eggs into the Cyrax basket, because I know he won't make it in every game, he's not a main character like Sub, Liu, Scorp etc. He's B-list at best. I accept that.

And finally, I understand man, he's the last orig. member left out. That sucks, but maybe the intention wasn't to include all JLA members. It's not a JLA game, it's a DCU game. So they included 4-5 Batman characters, 5-6 JLA characters, 3 Titans...basically, mixing it up. And as I said, maybe he just doesn't fit a role in the story, or maybe DC for some odd reason doesn't want him used. We don't know. But as I said, there's LOTS of characters that won't make the cut, there's no reason you should feel personally insulted because your favorite got passed over for someone elses. Things are done for a reason. Game design isn't just throwing darts blindfolded at random character's pictures, to decide who makes it or not.

Nobody is out to get you or upset Martian Manhunter fans. No more than they are Hawkman fans. Penguin fans. Darkseid fans. Captain Cold fans. Scarecrow fans. Powergirl fans. You are just making it seem as if it's a crime to not include YOUR favorite, and that, in my opinion, is taking things way too personally.

I'm not taking anything personally. But I am standing up for something I believe in. Straying off Path, Look at the recent arch where now Doc Ock controls all of Peter Parkers/Spiderman's Thoughts. You realize how many fans of spiderman back-lashed because they changed him? That's just a Change in the characters, not abandonment, but a change. I on the other hand am trying to speak up on behalf of myself and people like me. Year round we sit and hope that something will pop for the characters we support. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Deadpool, perfect example wasn't used for the longest time. Until recently when he just blew up and now he's marketing everything. I'm sure those people who followed Deadpool were at a standstill like myself hoping their character would get his shot and it happened I'm very much happy for those people. But DC markets their characters differently. I'm not saying MM is totally abandoned in the world of comics, but he ain't headlining anything major either.

He's been around for 57 years! 58 come November. And hasn't been involved in anything that could market him as a stand alone character at all. Everything he's been in has been read only, outside the minor cameos in media. That IMHO shouldn't be. Maybe they should hand the character license over to someone who sees more for him then just a minor character in widely used comic arcs. At least then it might benefit him and help prolong his depth and growth in the lives of more and more fans.

If he's not in the game, sure I'll still enjoy it. I'll probably pickup Grundy. But the point of my argument and rants is that he's been in question and teased all by boon himself. I would hope that if this character is being brought up that they're serious about his inclusion and it's not trolling. My only argument is, if you're gonna feed us these teasers and question about his appearance, add him. Don't toy with the minds of people who seriously want to play as him.

That is all. I am now gonna do what I said above and be patient and wait.
I'm not immature if that's your initial opinion. I'm just very vocal in the stuff i support and for what cause.

No no no, definitely don't think you are immature. I have no negative opinion of you...other than making all these darn sigs for peeps, making the ones I make look less unique. :P But seriously, I have respect for you and your passion. I love when people have that much passion, because I do too. I support my favs all the time too. I bleed Batman and all things associated heh. But, I just think you get carried away when you start making all these claims, when we just don't know the full story, behind the scenes, and why someone might be included, and why are some are left out. There's good reason i'm sure.

And as far as MM not being represented in much, well, there's the JLA animated series. I actually just started watching through it, going to be going through the whole season leading up to the game, much like I did with Batman TAS, leading up to Arkham City. I have them all the series, and love to view them in order, when anticipating a release such as this. And MM is featured just as the others are.

He was also just recently in Justice League: Doom, amd Lego Batman 2 if i'm not mistaken. So it's not as if he's being forgotton. Like I keep saying, they have a ridiculous amount of characters to try and feature in things. They can't do justice to everyone all the time, no pun intended. Everyone has to see their favorites get left out every once in a while, especially the further down they get from main stream. So you aren't alone in feeling the way you do, i've seen pleas for Grodd, Killer Croc, Blue Beetle, Powergirl etc. as well.

But, let's just hope it all ends up well, and everyone at least gets someone they enjoy.

Good post. And you are right, I get carried away, but that's only because I'm a comic nerd and have that drive for the characters I really support and love. For me, him being in this game could be that possible 1st step into the right direction. Look at GL in MKvsDCU. You and I know GL was pretty much always a big character, but you gotta admit him being in MKvsDCU. Gave his character chance and drive to have that movie and animated series on Cartoon Network made.

Sometimes it's the way these characters are represented in these games that helps boast their popularity.

Doctor Strange is a perfect example. He was included in MUA then got his own animated movie, then was in UMVC3. I feel how they marketed him helped him reach out to the fans. Especially with the Brother Voodoo being the new Sorcerer Supreme. Marvel markets these characters really well. I only wish DC could do the same for Manhunter.

I agree with MINION 100% on this, don't tease a character if you aren't gonna put them in the game. I'm the same way with Gorilla Grodd, I first saw Grodd when I was six years old, for my birthday my aunt bought six action figures Superman, Batman, The Joker, Bizarro, Black Manta and Gorilla Grodd. I always played with Grodd fighting against Superman, Batman and the others, I still have all of them and the Gorilla Grodd figure is on my desk in my study.

When MK vs. DC was coming out and I just hoping that Grodd made the roster but he didn't, now with Injustice this is the perfect time to add him to the roster because there are alot of people who wants him in the game and he's a top-villain in the DC Universe. There really is no reason that Grodd shouldn't be in this game, he's a core member of Injustice League only behide two of the founders Lex Luthor (confirmed) and The Joker (confirmed).

DC hasn't even gotten their main heroes off the ground completely, so to expect anything better for anyone under them, at this point, likely isn't going to happen. Beyond Batman and Superman, nobody else has really been pushed to anything more than some animated series appearances or minor video game roles. When Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Aquaman haven't even taken off, of course MM hasn't really gotten the chance. DC just doesn't seem to know how to market their A listers yet, so we can't expect them to even begin to know what to do with their A-, B, and C listers.

That's my biggest hope, is that they will get their stuff in order and start getting these heroes more main stream and in the cinema etc. Done well, not rushed. Smallville for Superman was a good step. The Dark Knight Trilogy obviously did wonders for Batman. Green Lantern's movie ended up being a flop. Green Arrow has a new live action show on the CW, which we should all hope does well. And they are in talks for a Wonder Woman show as well. DC also is known for their great animated movies, which they definitely do better than Marvel imo, so much so, that they are actually forming a studio dedicated to making these yearly, with much more emphasis than before. Which is another good sign. And, of course, the Superman film this year looks to be fantastic. With the JLA movie aiming for a 2015 release, which they hope to spin off into the individual member movies.

So it's definitely looking to get better, and I think this game is another part of their plan. They probably want a solid game with a good story, to really draw in even more fans and reach more audiences. So, in the end, we all win, when more people become fans.

They want to make a series out of this, so if the story is there, and it's good as has been said by the guy who wrote the comic leading into the game...then future titles in between MK games is something to keep looking forward to. I believe these will be individual stories, like some comics with self contained "alternate what if" stories. So each game could offer completely different cast of supporting characters to the main few, so if MM doesn't get included for some reason, there's only so long they can go without using his potential. I think they know he is desired, but it could be a matter of timing and finding the right story for him to take part in. They don't want characters just to have them, they want to sell this as an epic well written story that you'd find in the comics themselves, not just a mashup of DC's best just to have them duke it out.

I don't think Boon intentionally tries to mess with fans, in a mean spirited way, I think he's just trying to throw curveballs to keep people guessing. Driving us all to speculate "will they be in" "Does this mean ___ will be in because he's hinted at in this image" etc. It's not like they come out and say "these guys are in" then don't put them in. People just let their desire for them to be in, lead them to jump to conclusions and believe they have to be in because they had a folder in Boon's pic. when they should know better. Boon has hinted at multiple characters over the years, and not all are put in. But yes, I do agree, they shouldn't mess with fans. But it does come back with people getting too worked up over it. So in the end, I think both are in the wrong. He's just having fun, and fans see what they want to see and take everything as "oh, this must mean they're in!" then when they aren't, they feel lied to when he never said they were gonna be in at all or implied. But yes, it can come across as cruel. I can understand that.

There was no way Raven was going to be left out. She's unbelievably popular. I was rooting for her from the beginning.

Still, this is starting to look bleak for some characters. I know Martian is in, but making him DLC makes no sense. That's like making Mileena or Cage DLC. He would sell, though; can't argue with that.

I didn't think it was possible to make your reveals less hype than MK9, but they're doing it. Say what you want about Capcom, but they know how to hype up their character reveals. These picture-less magazine reveals feel so hollow, and it's even worse when it's done for characters that were complete givens anyway (Aquaman/Shazam).

Yeah i can understand what you're saying. Now while my only real exposure to the character is from Young Justice and The Justice League:New Frontier animated adaption,he seems like a great character. It's things like this is why i'm going to wait 6-8 months for a (hopefully) cheaper complete edition.Because they'd have more characters, all the costumes(not digging batman's shiny armor,New 52 looks great from the battle edition promo pic) anyway,it really does seem like a downer that a character with such potential like Martian Manhunter might not make the initial roster. But let's just hope that he's in a future reveal video.......With Beast Boy......Ending With(Pre-Order for exclusive Damian Wayne Robin dlc character. Now wouldn't that be something?

I just had to address this right quick. When people talk about Robin they are almost always universally taking about Dick Grayson. I mean I know what you're getting at but Robin is in the game.

This is honestly what makes me think he'll be included. I'll be pretty surprised if any of the original seven from the DCAU are left out.
