Batman takes glory as he takes over all of Injstice with his swarm of Bat-heroes and villians!
Look, Batman, Nightwing, Joker, Batgirl, all of these special Batman costumes- you're telling me Batman isn't at least 60% of this game?

dead horse.
The problem is Warner Bros. knows they can sell Batman. Why? Because ever since the Burton film he's been a cash cow. Even with the atrocious Schumacher, he never lost his public image. In the consciousness of the average person D.C. comics revolves around Batman and Superman, and since Batman has been more publicly flushed out -movies, cartoons, toys- he's the one they're going to sell. Once Man of Steel comes out, if it's good, we may see some growth for Superman. But, as we saw with Green Lantern, if the movies sucks the expansion of a character's popularity won't happen.
Marvel is a great example of putting a certain character front and center -Iron Man, though extremely important in Marvel Comics- was little more than background character in Spider-Man cartoons to people who didn't read comics. The movie came out, and Stark rocketed past perennial favorites- Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine (again I'm talking about those who have little info when it comes to comics).
To lose the Bat-centric nature, DC will have to have some assurance that another character can keep up. If Man of Steel is good, we may see a drop to 50-50 Superman/Batman coverage -the toys may even out, cartoons may even out- all of the stuff that is churned out for the masses could, in fact, balance between the two.
The unfortunate fact is the popularity of characters in the mainstream is dictated by television and movies, rather than comics. Remember before Green Lantern came out, and people were upset that they "made Green Lantern white" ? It's just an indication that there only exposure was the Justice League cartoon. I knew people who had no idea who Gwen Stacey was when The Amazing Spider-Man came out -they only knew Mary Jane because of the cartoon and Raimi movies. So, until more people start picking up comics, or Flash, Green Lantern, Captain Marvel, Martian Manhunter, or any other less publicized character gets a well received character, we will be stuck in a Bat-obsessed world because WB knows Batman sells.

To add to the statement about the other characters need to grow in the mainstream more...
You can look at the comics. It's safe to say that while Green lantern in the comics is one of the more popular ones, Batman and Superman and their respective franchises are the top two!
Batman has his Bat family.
Superman has his Super family.
Green Lantern does has his respective Corps.
And there's various Justice League books
But then look at some of the individual characters. Wonder Woman has one book. Teen Titans are just one book. So on and so forth.
So its safe to include the comics in there as a way to determine who gets favored. That said, I'll agree, the atrocious Lantern movie is why we only have Lantern and Sinestro.

This subject has been talked about for a long while. But I think it's still a viable topic.
Anyway... I was really disappointed when the full roster was revealed and the roster was Batman biased. I was hoping to see at least 1 villain for every hero. But apparently any other villain that isn't Superman or Batman's just isn't popular.
The only Batman characters I'd say the game needed are Batman, Joker, and Catwoman. And even then, Catwoman wasn't terribly important in the story. Bane, Nightwing, and Batgirl were unnecessary. From a story perspective anyway.
I don't know much about DC, but I know there were better choices for characters like Bane, Nightwing, and Batgirl.

Not for the latter two tbh. I don't know much about DC, but I know there were better choices for characters like Bane, Nightwing, and Batgirl.
Batman is their most popular franchise. It's like with the Marvel Alliance games. There's going to be a lot of X-Men because everyone loves the X-Men.

Lol, glad to see someone else making the Batman/X-men connection that I made months back when people were complaining.
Batman is NOT 60% of this game.
Out of 28 characters we are getting so far(counting the unrevealed 4th DLC character), 7 out of those 28 are Batman related. That's 25%, not 60%.
As for skins, I don't care to count all of them up again(I did it a while back in another thread), it's like 35-40% Batman related.
NEWS FLASH: Batman is the most popular franchise in the DCU.
It's as if they want to appeal to most fans, and make the most money or something...
Crazy.

That I do have a problem with. Apparently there's an ass load of skins left to reveal but come on. As for skins, I don't care to count all of them up again(I did it a while back in another thread), it's like 35-40% Batman related.

I still think the X-Men analogy fails. Batman's allies are essentially gadget users with no powers, and his villains don't make a lot of sense outside the context of his own storyline. If the X-Men were 5 guys who all had claws and healing abilities but with different mantels, I'd agree, but they're not. The X-Men characters are unique in a way that Batman characters aren't.
I'm not entirely against the over-indulgence of the Batman Universe (Bane aside), but I definitely see where people are coming from.

I hope you're joking about there not being better choices for Batgirl and Nightwing.

Well, Nightwing is the leader of the Teen Titans, so his spot was actually merited.

It really is. You're not going to get more DC than Dick Grayson. He will ALWAYS have a place in anything DC and like it or not so will Batgirl AND that Batgirl will more than likely be Barbara Gordon. They're too iconic and important. KungLaodoesntsuck Wrote:

There were better choices in terms of gameplay.

People would have been more receptive to Babs if it wasn't for the MMH fiasco. Since he seems to be on the way, it's not much of an issue anymore (though people are making the leap from "more DLC" to "we're getting a second full-blown season pass," and I think that's a bit hasty).

Gameplay is a blank slate for all characters, though. There really is no such thing as a gameplay restriction. Capcom made Venom turn into a large shark in MvC1.
Speaking of Capcom, they said something similar about why they excluded Mega Man X in MvC3, and the fans blew them up for it. I'm still not over that, btw. That was WAY worse than leaving out MMH in Injustice.

I mean in terms of character uniqueness. If we're talking gadget characters throughout the entire DCU, I'm positive there was a better choice than Batgirl. No doubt in my mind about that.
