I want to know what you guys think will be the future of MKvsDC or the MK crossovers in general. Do you think a sequel will happen after MK9? Do you think we will see a new crossover?

Personally, I think after they make MK9 they will make MKvsDC2. It will probably have more characters, more content, and new fighting mechanics added to the original engine. Knowing warner bros. they want to put both liscenses to good use especially after the success of MKvsDC. Not too mention it just seems like they would want to go in a main streem approach after an M rated MK. The only way I could see it being any different is if MK9 sells better than MKvsDC.

I'm hoping for MKvsStreet Fighter or MKvsMarvel in the future, but I doubt that will happen. And I really hope MK10 will be just an MK game.

Anyways, what do think will happen?

MK vs DC was an epic fail and I think Ed Boons knows it. MK deserves better than being mixed with stupid looking super heroes who wears their underwear on their pants. confused

The fatalities where lame, the fighting sucked(all the moves looked the same). I want MK9 and the next Mks to be martial arts video games with authentics fighting styles. They should hire true martial artists for the motion capture instead of a guy who try to omitate martial arts but fails.

I am 95% sure that the idea came about as an act of desperation. trying to attract more people to buy a MK game. Midway was a dying dog trying to get back up. You attach DC to it. all the comicbook fans are gonna buy it.

simple math. it would get more sales than just MK8 "dawn of taven" hahaha

now that its wb. doubts on the merge. they have money out the ass AND the attention of the fanbase of mkvsdcu.

no more crossovers. no more over the top ideas. Get a real solid fighter out there and watch it climb back up there.

I wouldn't mind it, but the DC fan in me wants to see a whole fighting game based on DC.

Kabal vs The Road Runner

After all the WB owns it now lol.

Despite being hated by some fans MKvsDC did sell well especially for a dieing company. So, no, it wasn't an epic fail marketing wise, but it may have been an epic fail for you.

Yeah, absolutely. According to Wiki and some other sources, MKvsDC was one of the most successfull Midway games since 2002, and that says a lot. Of course MKvsDC couldn't save Midway since the company was dying anyway...

But I have to say... although most MK Fans and also fighting game lovers hate this title.... I enjoyed the hell out of it and I'd reaaaaaaally loved to see a sequel! Well... either a sequel or a whole fighting game based on DC (which is really good of course)... or... both. Let's just wait and see what's coming next :)

Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman can do a lot of things... but even they couldn't save Midway. lol

I don't see this happen for the upcoming installment of MK. MKvsDC did quite good in tha sales department, had a good gameplay... so I see it happen in the far future. They just better don't do this right now. It'll piss off a lot of MK fans, that's for sure

I'm certain that MK9 will be violent again. Or at least I hope it is.

If they keep the same engine, fix a few flaws here and there, update it with a patch and DLC, were good.

As far as MKvsDC2 is concerned. I wouldnt be surprised if it comes out sometime in the future. I'm sure that 9 will go back to its roots, as a big portion of its fan base was pretty upset at the crossover.

I would love to see another MKvsDC game but I don't think it is going to happen. I think Midway thought that buy including DC characters it would help push the latest MK game though the roof. That didn't exactly happen.

MKvsDC sold pretty much exactly the same amount of copies as Deception and Armageddon. All three games (Deception, Armageddon, and DCU) sold a little more than two million each, meaning there wasn't a vast influx of new MK players with DC Universe. It pretty much sold to the same people that bought Deception and Armageddon.

Deadly Alliance is the series recent high light in terms of sales. It's still the best selling MK game since MK3 and it's the only MK game to break 3 million sales during the last decade.

I think Midway was hoping that MK fans, as well as millions of DC fans, would buy MK vs DC Universe and cause the game to sell four or five million. What happened was that it pretty much sold on par to the previous two games, if not just a little bit better (but not much).

Given the mixed reaction DC Universe had amongst fans, plus the fact that it really didn't bring in a new audience, I find it hard to believe that we will ever get a sequel to the game. But who knows? Warner Bros owns both MK and DC now so it's not altogether unlikely.

Personally I enjoyed the hell out of DC Universe and I would easily be up for another T-rated DC cross over. Maybe they can alternate the M-rated games and the DC cross-overs? Probably not, especially if MK 2011 sales four million or so.

MK vs DC just didn't feel right. This isn't Marvel vs Capcom, MK is best without crossing over with other series. Other than trying to gain money for the companies, they have absolutely no use at all.

MK vs DCU sucked. MK doing crossovers isn't a bad thing, they just gotta find the right game to merge with. MK vs KI (Killer Instinct) would have been awesome

I don't see why it can't be a successful spin off title. I think people are much too hard on MK vs. DC. I personally felt it was a quality made product in comparison to the titles that were released prior to it.

It was an overall enjoyable game, it provided the foundation for MK9, and introduced me to a lot of new DC characters that I enjoy. Whether you liked the game or not, MK vs. DC was an overall positive decision for the series. It certainly wasn't a bad decision like many like to claim it is. Remember, I'm not talking personal taste here. If a T rated MK game isn't your thing that's entirely valid, but that doesn't mean the game itself hurt MK's reputation.

MK's reputation isn't that great as is anyway. Adding DC characters isn't going to affect those who view MK as a joke, positively or negatively. MK vs. DC may have damaged MK fans idea of what MK is, but those fans still have MK9 and will support the series regardless.

Sure the game itself could have been better. I'm not disputing that. Although I'm far from a fighting game expert, the engine did feel clunky, and the whole game seemed a bit rushed, but with a bit more time and effort something GREAT could be made.

Hopefully if MK vs. DC 2 is made they can keep all the characters in the first, since it was a relatively small cast, and add 4 new fighters to each side, bringing the cast to 28 (or 30 if you want to keep Shao Kahn/Darksied).

I'd like to see
MK:
Quan Chi
Kung Lao
Mileena
Reptile

DC: I really don't know the universe that well but...
Martian Manhunter
Aquaman (why not?? lol)
Harley Quinn
Poison Ivy

MK vs. DC may not be your thing, but it doesn't mean that it can't be successful and it doesn't mean that the two franchises can't co-exist. Just my two cents.

This.

I did love the gameplay system. Minus the rage mode, the STILL skilless breakers, and the shameful close kombat/freefall kombat.

With the close/free fall kombat, I cannot express how ridiculous it is. Capable of doing away a quarter of a health bar just because they couldn't guess right.

There hasn't actually been an MK that I haven't liked. And I really did enjoy the shit out of MK vs DC, but I wouldn't really want to see a sequel. It was great as a once off, but I'd prefer to keep it that way. Playing MK vs DC now, and looking at the debut trailer for MK '11 makes me look at it even more are a neutered MK.
sure if it doesn't SUCK and isn't included in the canon

I would love an MKVSDC 2. I'm sure it would be miles better than the original which I enjoyed. I can definitely see the MK team having more control now that they're actually with WB. I just almost wish they wouldn't do fatalities in this series. They sucked ass. Unless it's M rated which I don't really see happening.

I do not want a MKVSSF. At all. I would totally except MK vs. Tekken though.

You mean like excessive gore?

or finishing moves that kill the opponent?

or digitised actors playing as the cast?

or deathtrap areas that end the round instantly?

Or do you just mean the crossover with a comic book company? Which has never been done before. NEVER.

Exactly. How can you say fuck gimmicks when talking about the Mortal Kombat franchise? If it wasn't for the gimmicks the game would have been lost in the shuffle of arcade games back in the 90's. If you are truly opposed to gimmicks then go play Virtua Fighter. And if your a such a fighting game snob then why do you have any interest in Mortal Kombat.

I would definitely like to see another MK vs DC game. I enjoyed Superman and Batman, etc. I think the game was well put together for what its worth. Sure the fatalities could have been way...better and other features could have been included to make the game hardcore, but it did well and I enjoyed it.
