People come to forums to talk to others, Google is great and all but it doesn't talk back. If you know the answer to somebody's question, be social and share, if you don't feel like sharing, move on.

It was the original suit he appeared in before his fight with Superman in the comics. As he fought Superman it torn and worn away to reveal his primary look of his shorts. I'm not sure if it served any particular purpose...well actually I guess it served kind of as a high tech straight jacket for him, considering his power and strength. His arms and legs where bound in cables.
