Community specialist Tyler Lansdown has spoken to the play statin blog about the GEAR SYSTEM.
"Injustice 2 will introduce a mechanic known as the “Gear System” which will being RPG elements into the game. Playing the game will reward loot drops that will give new armour parts to your heroes and villains, allowing you to not only customize your characters appearance, but how they play. What this means is that you, your friend, or really anyone can become professional Aquaman players yet each have your own distinct Aquaman that plays uniquely from one another"
I was asking for this costumization system since the arrive of MKX, but now that it also will represent a Gameplay change.
¿Will this give us an unbalanced game at early stages? ¿How will the gear system affect the competitive scene? ¿Will loot drops introduce Micro transactions in our Figting game?

All great questions. I'd say its a guarantee the game will be unbalanced in its early stages. All fighting games are. They can balance to their heart's content, but until the game is out there in the wild, they never truly know.
The competitive scene has been on NRS' mind the last 3 games, I gotta believe they have some sort of solution in place.
Micro transactions are on the scene's mind right now, and I gotta say, I understand the worry here. Here I am grinding away on my game, and I just earned some shiny new knee pads. Meanwhile, Entitled P. Bastardchild Esq. Just used his mom's credit card to buy an o.p. armor set. How does the common grinder compete? Hopefully this is not a "pay to win" type scenario if micro transactions are indeed a big part of this game.
Also, I will be beyond pissed if you can only earn certain(see: awesome) gear through a fucking app. I see it coming, and I just don't wanna even think about it.

Loot drops pretty much guarantee micro transactions.

Buying stat boosts in a fighting game is sooo janky though. If pay to win is indeed their aim, than that's an incredibly bad look.

The stat boosts will probably be banned in competitive modes and events.

Not a fan of micro transactions at all. I hope we get some actual game play soon

Ugh. This better be completely optional, otherwise it's going to be like a Smash 4 without the option to disable the equipment.

Sounds really fucked up but well have to see it in action first

About Me
As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about.

It depends on how much pull WB has on this

The customization idea is something I've wanted in MK for a long time (if its in this game, it'll most likely be in MKXI). Its a good step forward, because I think its about time to take fighting games a step beyond just fighting. Its 2016, time to move forward and combine other elements.
We'll have to see it first though.
