are WB executives behind this shit? Is NRS willingly tossing MK to the side in favor of making more comic book games?

They're a development studio. Warner Brothers owns them and the games they work on. So, yes. That's how that generally works.

I can see why DC fans like Injustice, but I honestly never got in to it, and it wasn't for lack of trying. I beat the story mode, paid for the DLC characters, got every arcade ending and was unlocking as much as I could when I finally gave in to the fact that I'd lost interest within days of buying the game.

For one, I find that my enjoyment of fighting games is inversely proportional to the amount of gimmicks within the actual fighting itself. Unless you're a fun, quirky little fighter like Smash Bros of Powerstone that's built around power ups, gadgets and various other environmental shenanigans, I want no part of you.

I also don't want to stop fighting and mash buttons or wager or anything else that temporarily murders the flow of a good match. Injustice had too many gimmicks in it's fighting, which always signals to me a lack if confidence in the main engine itself even if that's not the intention.

I also wasn't a big fan of the animation, which always felt sped up, as if frames were missing. This gave stuff an unnatural feel to the timing and flow of the gameplay and while MK9 had this to an extent, it somehow felt more noticeable in Injustice.

Also, compared to MK9, the graphics didn't really impress me. The characters all looked kinda flat, rubbery and overly shiny and, when combined with the sped up animation... I dunno, it felt like I was playing with action figures.

Again, this is just my opinion. I didn't hate the game, I'm still a fan of NRS and while I mainly like the Arkham portion of the DC Universe going back to my favorite show as a kid (Batman: The Animated Series), I went in to this game with an open mind, but it just didn't grab me like MK, KI, Tekken, etc.

So with that said, I'm really hoping that the next game is MKX. If they develop MKX and I2 in tandem, then great, but if one must come first, well... MK was one if the most financially successful fighters of the last generation and I've been waiting to see what happens next in the story, what characters we'll see, and what their vision will be for next gen MK pretty much since the credits rolled on Story Mode three years ago.

Finally somebody agrees with me that Injustice's quality is inferior to MK9's in every aspect.

Mortal Kombat is their baby, therefore it should be treated with the kind of respect it needs. I for one rather have a MK10 than Injustice 2 right now. I2 is too early to have soon.

If NRS is doing 2 games at once now, that could be bad for development on both games, unless the team is so big now that they can focus on 2 different projects than one. I was wondering how Capcom managed to do Marvel vs. Capcom 3 along side the Street Fighter 4 series, maybe WB is trying to do the same thing here? Is the WB Montreal studio going to develop I2? I do like Batman Origins, while not coming from the Arkham studio Rocksteady, Origins proved to be a pretty good game despite all it's game breaking glitches that came in it's early months of release. Most of those were patched however.

I rather really have MK10, and 4 years after the release of MK9 seems about right for the game to be out. MK9 was released in April 2011, Injustice was out April 2013, a 2 year development cycle after that would mean April 2015 for MK10.

My God, can't believe MK9 has been out for 3 years now. Really want to see where the story goes with Shinnok's army, I've been anticipating this for quite a while.

Of course we're going to have an injustice sequel, but not before MK10. Without a doubt, the next MK will be announced soon.

I'm expecting MK10 long before an Injustice sequel. Maybe even a trailer at E3?

I'm just waiting for MK10, so all the heated debates will start again.

Majority of the ones who are like "Fuck Injustice!!!", are going to be the ones bitching about MK as well.

As long as they don't cactus-fuck the game's story and muck-up the roster with retarded guest characters, there's really not much bitching to be made from me.

The only part of MK9 I didn't enjoy was the story. Playing the game is fan-fucking-tastic; and it's been 3 years. I haven't overplayed a game since MK4. Half of the reason was because I was able to mod MK4. Now I'm modding MK9. If they're smart, they'll make MK10 for PC as well.

I'm in the same boat as most people here; if an Injustice sequel came out before a Mortal Kombat Sequel I would be sincerely disappointed. Everything's pretty much been said already though; it's been three years since MK and just over a year since Injustice. It wouldn't be fair to make an Injustice sequel first, and it's too soon. And we got a nice cliffhanger in 2011 and we've been waiting three years from some closure.

I like Injustice, and I'm not entirely surprised at there being a potential sequel. Honestly, for a DC fighting game, I would rather have them do a different story altogether, one not tied into the Injustice story. That way, NRS can do different things with the DC universe.

In terms of Injustice compared to MK 2011, both games have their positives and negatives. I felt that the movement in Injustice was better than MK 2011, because the movement in MK 2011, at least for me, was not that good. I still felt like I had to rely a lot on jumping/flipping while in Injustice, I could actually make use of dashing.

I definitely understand the issues with the animation speeds as well as the flow of combat being disturbed by the clash system. While I enjoyed the exchanges between the characters, the clash system wasn't as helpful as it could be. Both games show that they are really stepping stones for NRS.

I really wish that NRS would learn from other fighting games in how to make the fighting smooth and fluid in both the animations and the feel. I kind of feel that it also affects the responsiveness of trying to do certain things. For example, I got really annoyed when trying to cancel Hawkgirl's b + light into her Wing Evade only to instead do her Mace Toss. Wtf??!!

But yeah, I'd rather they put focus on one game at a time to make sure the quality is good.

The gameplay is a lot more fluid, I agree that Injustice is a step in the right direction. When I tried playing MK9 again I was like 'What the F*ck?' But I'm confident MK10 will be much more awesome.

How can they develope a sequel to Injustice? Lots of heroes already died, and I'm pretty sure the writer of the prequel comics will kill all heroes in comics except the ones in the game's roster. So, another paralel dimension? Or:
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Insurgency Batman said ""If something ever happens and you do lose it? I'm coming for you." in the end. So this time the real Superman's going to lose it?

Injustice prequel comics still continue. It's in year two and the comics need 3 more years to finish the story. I don't think they would release a sequel before finishing the prequel comics.

Guys guys guys (and gals), most of you are getting far too carried away with Ed Boon's reply about a question regarding a possible sequel to Injustice. He simply stated that "it's definitely a possibility." And that's it, no need to make more out of it than that. NRS is hard at work on MK10 and we've had multiple snippet's of news stating this. We had confirmation from MK Legacy producer Lance Loan back at Comic Con 2013 that a new MK game is in development, confirmation that actor Kiefer Sutherland did voice work for a new "huge game" for MK, and recently voice actress Karen Strassman was confirmed to be using her skills again for working title Mortal Kombat 2.

So please chill out with all the "NRS isn't focusing on MK", "MK10 needs to come out before a new Injustice", and any similar talk. MK10 is coming folks and we should be getting our first look at it at E3 next month with some info regarding it's estimated release date.

THANK YOU!!! A new MK has been confirmed multiple times (hoping it's MK10, you never know). And with WB wanting to get DC into as many markets as possible, it wouldn't be beyond them to have another team under the supervision of Netherrealm develop Injustice 2. The first one did very well and got mostly good reviews, and the comic is also doing very well. I could even see some of the people working on the Injustice mobile game working on it as well.

Though I am worried about the prospect of Netherrealm working on both games at once. ID tried a similar thing with Rage, eventually got distracted and forgot about their 2nd team working on this other project. And Doom Forever is still recovering from development hell.

I still believe that we will get MK10 revel at EVO or E3. Games are in development for years.NRS has a huge team. They can make two games at once. But release them a year apart. WB owns NRS and NRS puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hoes. Meaning WB pays NRS and NRS dose what they are told.

I called the studio directly before MK 2011 was even announced and asked the secretary when the game was coming out. Has anyone tried that?

Well, I got MK9 confirmed to me by some devs over FaceBook. I remember one of them replying :
" Dear MK fan don't worry, next MK is in full production ;) "
