balls, I tried it a few times on one side of a stage and didn't get results. immediately assumed there weren't stage transitions for the demo. I should've tried the other side of the stage.

It was the same way for me the first few times I played through the ladder.
You've just got to practice for a bit before it starts to feel more natural for you to use the new mechanics. The combos themselves don't really feel all too different from MK as far as timing and things like that.

It is different from mk to be sure. So far though, I don't see it as a bad thing. The more I play, the more natural it becomes. Its gonna be a bit awkward if you still intend to play a little mk on the side though.
Well worth the wait. Two weeks!

I'm really loving the demo and some of the changes to the overall fighting mechanics over MK. I like the fact that they scaled back the "X-Ray" moves both in damage and in terms of how fast the meter fills up. I'm also liking the fact that there technically aren't two rounds to win and you have a unified health bar for the whole match. I think my only major gripe so far is trigger points or "danger zone" for knocking your opponent into another part of the arena seems to be a little too big IMO. Otherwise the game is great. Nothing at this point seems overpowered, even the environmental damage seems balanced.
I've had a play through with each of the characters. Personally I'm liking batman and Wonder Woman the most.

I wanted to wait and play a long while before I give my two cents. So here it goes.
*sigh*
They disregarded one of the things that made Mortal Kombat balanced for me.
Character movement speed.
Everyone is different and that is not a good thing.
Mortal Kombat did it right, given, not 100% but damn near close to it.
I do not believe that because a character is big, should mean they should feel like a walking tank. I am never using Lex again unless forced. It's sad because I really want to use Solomon Grundy in the future.
Even the jumping/flip jumps caught it. Batman feels and looks untested. Wonder Woman feels floaty. It's all so weird.
I can get used to the 3 attack buttons which I still don't like, but the character movement speed will urk me forever and thus my biggest gripe about the game in general.
I also think Batman's regular Grappling Hook should have a slight faster start up, I'm missing potential combo enders with that thing.
And fuck Doomsday's armor thing, what the shit...When you're on the verge of losing and he puts that on, forget about it.

Fuckin doomsday man. That armor is gonna have to be tweaked, its just lasts too long right now. As I said in another thread, dudes an absolute mauler.
Back to block is always a problem for me. I found myself looking for a block button a lot. A.I. utilizes the ever loving shit out of high/lows and constantly destroys me. Haha, I doubt I'll ever be able to enjoy playing this game solo on very hard.
Otherwise I'm enjoying the hell out of the game. Don't care much for wonder woman right now. Maybe when I actually have a practice mode to sink my teeth into, I might change my mind. Batman is a great all around character, as expected. Led moves like a freak in tank, but seems pretty fun.
This demo has made me even more excited for the finished product. Early kudos to NRS. Looks like they've got another great game on their hands.

I tried diddling with a similar combo but the last part is too wonky to pull off consistently for me.
A few WW combos I've done that are pretty BnB are
All in lasso stance
B1 1 3, 2 3, Jump3 xx DB.3 --32%
same combo, just low starter
3 3, 2 3, Jump3 xx DB.3 -- 29%
3 3, B2 xx DF.1 -- 23%
And this ones my baby,
B1 1 3 xx DB.3, Jump3, 2 3 xx DF.1 --39%
Oddly enough, I haven't found any practical use of her sword stance. I can't combo shit with her base combos. I'm guessing it could be possible to combo up on the wall, but other than that, I can't figure anything out for her sword stance. And you can't really pop them up in lasso stance and switch to sword stance with enough time to combo, so I dunno. Beats me.
Also, about Lex, I think people are forgetting about his character power. It is what makes him an absolute monster to fight against.
What you gotta do is jump in and do a quick simple combo, just something enough to knock your opponent on the ground. You could even use any of his specials that quickly knock down your opponent. When they are down, immediately shield up, then rush in. That free hit that you can tank makes a world of difference. Basically allows you to get in a free combo, and if they're blocking, grab. Just repeat. Once your shield goes down, find a way to quickly knock them down and shield back up.
Do it enough and have some decent combos learned, and you'll just about rip everyone a new asshole. His EX gravity thing sucks in opponents and stuns them so you can continue a new combo, you can even start it off with a heavy attack that will bounce them.

I agree, I did the button input just to see how it works as just a stand alone move and then I went into a level transition. Even though I was the one who pulled it off, I got mad at how easy it was, was barely near the tanker. >_>

The way that back3 works is that your opponent bounces off the wall and comes back to you. If the edge of the stage is even barely visible, then it makes sense for the stage transition to happen.

Same problem here, which is why at the moment I prefer her Lasso stance.
I can usually pretty quickly find a combo if the tools are there, but this got me stumped. I'll have to work with her again next time, was too busy with Batman.

So far I've only tried Wonder Woman. What is up with the fact that when you jump over the opponent, she doesn't turn around to face them until like, a whole second after she lands? Is everyone else like that?

Not sure. I do know that if you use her air dash over an opponent, she will turn around. Also if you use her 3 while jumping over an opponent, it'll reach back and still hit them.

Can't wait till the actual game to be able to practice those cancels. Pretty sure they're what's gonna make up most of the larger combos of the game.

Wonder Woman is hard to master, but it seems like it'll be rewarding to do so. I've accomplished a 38% damage combo using the wall.
Here's a wall combo you guys should try.
Sword Stance - x,x,A * x,x,Y,<>A+RT.
Replace the meter burn special with a backwards bounce cancel for extra epicness, if you feel you could spare the meter. Please note that you must be in the appropriate vicinity.

I honestly did think that Lex would be fun to play with, but was I wrong.

I'm not sure who I like most in the demo, lex or batman.
-Batman play how I pictured he would and lex has more options than I thought he did and is just a fun all around character.
-WW isn't bad either, I def like how she has two different weapons to choose from.
-Doomsday is just a beast on the harder difficulty levels. I keep getting destroyed by him but I'm betting they'll tone him done in the real game.
Everyone's play style felt really good. My hats off to NRS. I can't stop playing the demo so I'll go nuts for the real game.

you have to play with him a certain way. if you can, set the difficulty on battle mode to very hard, and make it to Lex.
you'll see that the computer makes heavy use of his character trait so he can tank hits and just keep comboing you up. that's the only real viable way i see of playing lex

The fact that you can't jumpkick an opponent on the way down if you jump over their head because you don't turn in midair is really messing with me. Who would program a fighting game to work this way?
The opponent doesn't turn automatically either, they literally have to press something or take a hit to turn to face the right way.
If you immediately both put down your controllers, one of you will be staring in the wrong goddamn direction.

Demo glitched on me and allowed me to see Flash and Catwoman in the character select screen.
Couldn't play as them though :(

Demo is awesome I think it is almost the right amount of the game to pump us all up. Should have added 10 STAR Lab Missions.
Never interested in Wonder Woman and she is my favorite to play with out of the three.

That's how I felt about Wonder Woman before I played the demo. Never really had an interest in her, but she plays awesomely. Her B2 4 can be used to range people and it's the heaviest hitting move she has. It's also pretty easy to combo with her.
The only thing I don't understand is her sword stance. I've yet to get comfortable with it, nor find decent combo strings.

So. Who else is displeased with the voice announcer in this game?
Yes, there is an announcer in the game, with her low ass sounding audio.
And not to sound like a perv or anything because I really am not addressing this in an erotic matter.
But am I the only one bugged out by Wonder Woman's character model, morely regarding her chest area? It looks like the armor is too low on her. There is a lot of chest showing on her.
I mean, if you were to tried to imagine where her um...nipples may be at, it would be where the W design of her armor, basically the top of the armor and not at the actual breast plated area.
But if you tried to imagine along with the armor, it seems like she has long drooping breast.
No I am not saying "omg fix it plz" because I know that's dead.
I just want to know if I'm not alone on this, because this is driving me crazy every time I win a match. Easily noticable during her victory animation.
Or maybe it's just me, but I figured I'll ask anyway.
I tried like I said I would and couldn't find anything. Maybe it's purely for the Lasso stance? So what is so special about her Sword stance? More damage done?
