Kenshi is my favorite character, and they've done an amazing job with him in MKX. Not only did they manage to do justice to his classic Deadly Alliance appearance much better than they did in MK9, they also brought back his old telekinetic moves for his Kenjutsu variation which I felt were sorely missed in the last game. Kenshi at his finest. All of his variations offer vastly different play styles (Though other kombatants weren't as lucky), and are stylish as hell. He may not have got his own chapter in Story Mode, but his omnipresence as a side character more than makes up for that. I think it's pretty clear that NRS is a big fan of Kenshi, and for that I'm glad. I hope he sticks around for a long time as I think he can co-exist with Takeda easily - a lot easier than certain other offspring characters.

I think Hsu Hao is pretty great. Cool concept, solid design, fun special moves. The hate for him feels like an in-joke that got out of hand and blown out of proportion because it's easier to have a communal punching bag than to think critically. It's like making jokes about Nickelback or Justin Bieber in 2015.

It's a shame that Hsu Hao's never going to come back, because if MK9 and MKX have shown us anything it's that any character or concept can be turned into a unique fighter worthy of a spot on the roster.

But indeed Kenshi all the way.

Kenshi wins for me. He has always been a great character.

I do not think Hsu hao us that bad tho. He certainly is not the worst character.

Hsu Hao got my vote.

Kenshi is slightly above average to me. I didn't care for him at all in the 3D Era and didn't really spark an interest in MK9. They certainly redeemed him for me by his presentation in MKX. Two awesome fatalities, an awesome Ronin costume, and 3 distinct variations that are drastically different.

I thought Hsu Hao had a great story but never got further developed to this random hate he gets. His design could have used some tweaking but by the looks of MKX it seems that NRS thought it was time to tweak several anyway. Although most would not want to see him back for some reason, I'd gladly welcome him back into the series.

I think Kenshi is clearly more developed and has a better design. Hsu Hao could be an interesting character, given a pretty major rehaul in gameplay and design. Like I said with Daegon, the Red Dragon seem pointless to me, so he would need to get away from that.

How about:
Kano finds Hao's body after Scorpion tore it to shreds. Using Black Dragon technology and stolen Lin Kuei blueprints, he gives it to the guy who worked on him and Kabal and he rebuilds Hao into a cyborg that is half human/half machine. Unlike the Lin Kuei cyborgs, Hsu Hao would be much more gritty/deformed and would retain his human parts in certain places (i.e. an arm. eyes, brain, etc.). He could be MK's Frankenstein's monster, blending black market technology with organic tissue into a bulking beast. They could use parts of Jason's gameplay mixed with his old moves like the clap, laser, and charge up to refresh his gameplay.

But yeah, I voted Kenshi.

Voted Kenshi.

Thoroughly enjoyed every variation of his in MKX, and got pretty good with him in MK9. Both fatalities are killer, and his brutalities are fun and fairly easy to execute.

Taven looked generic, but Daegon looked awful to me. Both had cookie cutter gameplay and their stories were so-so. Edge goes to Taven, I guess?

Wow, Kenshi got an easy draw in round 1. Hsu Hao came in a time when MK was going in a new direction and should've been a fairly decent character. Unfortunately, he had a lot working against him.

His move list is unremarkable, his faction and story were underdeveloped and his design looks like it belongs more in an early 90's side scrolling beat-em-up than a fighting game from the early 2000's. The sad part is that he probably would've been a grunt in that game too.

I know they'll never bring him back, but for all of his faults, he did have some redeemable qualities that perhaps might have been strung together to form a more competent and interesting character. Guess we'll never know.

So yeah, Kenshi wins by default. I'm not nearly as wowed by him now as I was when I first saw him in MKDA, but he's still got s lot going for him in every category.

That said, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if he took a game off. After shoe-horning him in to MK9 as DLC, he feels like he's been around a lot and his utilization, while not terrible, does leave him in somewhat of a "take him or leave him" feeling and that's probably more of an indication of slight character fatigue than anything bad about him specifically.

Or they could do a bit more with him specifically.

Either way, he gets my vote, but in not sure for how long in to this game that'll last.

Might as well give Kenshi a bye for this round.

Kenshi has one of the coolest designs in Mortal Kombat and it looks the developers really like him considering that he has appeared in every game since his debut excluding MKvDC. His story has still got room to develop with Takeda an added dynamic.

Hsu Hao gets hated a lot but then again peer pressure is a thing. Why bother wasting time and energy thinking when the majority have done that for you?! He had a good outing in the comic but that speaks volumes about him considering a comic book appearence outshines his in-game appearences. NRS have got more resources now then since the start of the millenium so it does not look like they are going to be updating him. Oh well.

I'm rather surprised, and happy, that Kenshi got a more prominent role in the Story than I had expected. I like what they did with him. Because of all the development he's had in this game, he gets my vote.

Hsu Hao was a good character as the Red Dragon enforcers. I don't know why he's hated so much. We don't have a lot of brutes on the roster and he fits the role perfectly. He also was a good match for Jax.

But in the end, Kenshi is much more important to the current world of Mortal Kombat, being the father of one of my new mains and being an overall bad ass. Kenshi gets my vote. He would win either way.

Please tell me that the poll is a trick, and any dipshit voting for Hsu Hao over Kenshi is being instantly banned.

Even Ed hates Hsu Hao. He was a shining example of the 3D era's boring, terrible characters. I mean for God's sake, his MKDA ending was:

"Hsu Hao was loyal to the Black Dragon. Mavado gave him another mission. He went to go do it."

Funny thing is, in a game with the worst fatalities in the series (even worse than MK3), Hsu Hao had the best one. Not saying much, though.

Voted for Kenshi. Hsu Hao is one of my least favorite characters in the series, so of course I am not going to vote for him.

Now pit Hsu Hao against Dairou and it might be a close one lol

I'm so happy Taven won. By the way people talk about the brothers, I thought for sure Deagon was going to win. Maybe Deagon fans are just a little more vocal than Taven fans?

Shit, I missed 3 matches. This tournament is why I joined this site in the first place.

So anyway, Kenshi. I'm not going to give a reason because I've already talked on this site about how much I dislike Hsu Hao.

I voted Kenshi.

Kenshi is one of the best 3d era characters Mortal Kombat introduced us to. I loved his MK:DA adaptation the most. MKX's Kenshi is cool, but I wasn't to fond of his not-so-serious personality he was kinda working with in MKDA-MKA. The voice in MK9 and MKX could be better too, however, he's still incredibly terrific and stands out a whole lot, even with his move-set similar to Ermac. I believe Kenshi should solely get telekinetic abilities while Ermac gets a new set of moves.

I never saw anything so bad in Hsu Hao. Everything regarding him could've been better but he still wasn't bad. I wouldn't mind having Hsu Hao back in another game. However, him getting killed off first in the comic is a sign that nobody wants him back. Hsu Hao has redeemable qualities like everyone else and him coming back as a revamped character would be cool, however, Kenshi has always been superb so the vote goes to him.
