Anyway, I vote Mileena, since she's going to win this match faster than Charlie Sheen can say "Winning!" after 3 lines of cocacine.

Like I've said, I genuinely try to like Jade, so if you can elaborate on the interesting/unique/memorable parts of her story line and background, I will gladly listen.



IIRC in MKD Konquest Mode, Mileena was in charge of the army that Baraka led to to Lei Chen that got summarily curbstomped by Hotaru, so he's already won against them.

. . . Speaking of Konquest mode, I've come to believe that a very good indicator that someone hasn't played it is if they say Hotaru is a boring or forgettable character. He's the character that makes you want to throw your television out of the window in Konquest mode. If you hate him in or because of Konquest mode, well, a character that evokes that kind of reaction in a story is a good character.


Play-wise, he's way better in MKA, though. He felt kind of unfinished in MKD, having only two moves really hurt him. But they added a teleport and a long-range punch with cool effects in MKA, and gave him a samurai voice and that helped a lot.

Another very weird thing that I think hurt him is that for some reason a lot of MK fans think his name is exclusively a female name, and that his weapon is an exclusively female weapon. He's not from Earth so it doesn't even matter, but in reality Hotaru, while a female name, is actually more commonly a male name in Japan, and of course the Naginata was the most ubiquitous foot soldier and Samurai weapon in Japan for centuries.



I think it's less about the obvious fact that Mileena is going to win the popularity vote and more just to see what Hotaru can scrape by with.

Like I said, I love Mileena, she's probably in my top ten or top five, but who would be more interesting to have in MK11? In the comics, Raiden has the Orderrealm Kamidogu, and in the MKX kard background that has all the Kamidogu, Orderrealm's is missing. Also, right now both Earthrealm and Outworld are pretty messed up, and I'm sure Raiden would want someone to come help sort everything out. I think Hotaru would make a great boss/sub-boss character, because he does think he's doing what's right, he's a commander of an army, and Orderrealm is in a great position to be inserted into the story line right now.

Plus, imagine his armor in current-gen graphics. It's supposed to be iridescent and now they could actually do that.

I'm fairly confident we'll see him again, and that the polls might tell a different story one day. In this hypothetical future, Mileena will probably still win but by a lot less of a margin.
That being said . . . .

Well, Hsu Hao, on the other hand, he was completely irrelevant to the plot. He was only made for the sake of there to be another Red Dragon member. In other words, he was merely Mavado's lapdog. A disgusting mistake is what that character is. He never should have been made.

Good, I've always wanted to ask someone with that opinion - and I do respect that opinion, but I've always wondered . . . what about characters like, hmm . . . Jarek? Kai? Kobra? Drahmin? Hsu Hao? Reiko? Meat? Moloch? Mokap? Daegon? Chameleon?

All those characters (save for Hsu Hao, Kobra, Mokap, and Meat) deserve better.

I think Nomad's Touch was part of Havik's influence on him. A chatic attack that made no sense, unless you understand Havik.

Technically I wasn't asking you either, but you mean well and seem nice so I'm not going to judge you like I am brutally and mercilessly judging Quanchi9. You seem to have actually understood that it was a list of characters who I personally believe are less interesting/relevant and have a lot less potential than Hotaru and even Dairou, but you're not blaming the actual characters themselves, and are indicating that you wouldn't shut them down just because of how they've been portrayed in the past. It's a good attitude to have. Look at, say, Rain, for instance, who went from a joke character/pariah to a legitimately respected and popular character.

Anyway, this matchup is strangely appropriate, size-wise. I'd go with Ferra/Torr, though, for the simple reason that they can talk, are a fun concept, are more interesting to play as, and you get to use a child as a projectile. It's hard to say whether they can have any relevance in the future since we don't know much about them, but I find them more entertaining than Moloch.

I love this too. Kabal is ridiculous. Great character design (who doesn't love Star Wars?) but his moves have never made any sense whatsoever. He was always horrifying to fight in MK3. His story has always been shaky at best, and the reboot didn't do much to help that. At least he looks cool, right?

As for this vote... I really like Ferra/Torr because the concept was actually bold and interesting. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy playing as them at all and they didn't have the backstory hook to keep them interesting. I appreciate the effort but I wish they can do a better job with them in the future. Hope they aren't doomed to the klassic MK thing called "fading into obscurity". Where as Moloch actually both plays well and has great lore. I may or may not have posted this every time I've voted Moloch, but...



I gotta vote for the Oni-Destroyer. Him and his oni bro Drahmin have so much potential to be amazing and it's disappointing that they weren't in MKX, especially with the Netherrealm war being a focus. I hope to see him again.
