Thus far...
I've mostly been familiarizing myself with the map editor for a few hours to escape school work. The majority of the textures were taken directly from MK4 (via MK4 strip). Most of what you see are default HL2 textures, I haven't finished modeling it so no sense in applying textures to the areas that are being worked on.

I'll most likely be editing and/or creating my own once my mod actually reaches a video-presentable state. I know it's not 100% accurate to MK4, and I don't plan on making it that way either. I'm going to be throwing in my own creativity in here and there to give it a new look.

If you don't own Half-Life 2 then I doubt you'll ever get a chance to touch this mod of mine, unless you get it some time in the future. And if you thought my sig was a big joke, well... sorry to dissapoint you.

Just out of curiousity, anyone out there play HL2 or is involved with making a mod?

What software is needed to mod HL2? I'm very interested in making my own games.

Looks pretty good man, though the blue faces seem too "stretched" in SDK source. I think you should implement brighter lighting as well since it looks a little too dark overall.

Those blue faces are place holders for when I learn more 3D shit so I can actually have them animate.

Yeah, it is a bit dark...

Latest version (sad things, I'm not even 50% finished with it yet)

Looks very nice!

I know nothing of working in actual SDK's so I don't know much of the technical stuff to suggest anything, but from a 3D art perspective I wonder if you might be able to do more with the lighting?

At the moment it's got the right places illuminated (such as the faces etc.) and the red torches (alarm lights!?), but perhaps you might be able to play about with it to really set a mood.

Even though this stage is all about the elder gods I always thought of it as a pretty dark and dingy place.

Great work tho!

Yeah.... place holders until I can figure out a creative way to make these things (I thought the red glowing ines of MK4 were kind of stupid):

I haven't figured out fire yet in the map editor so the "torches" will have to wait.
