Skarlet's blonde.

I decreed this long ago and it's canon now.

I shall call the unnamed characters.

Sorry, but there's no creativity going on here.

1) If you're deliberately going for a pallet swap, fine. I actually still like people pallet swapping every now and then. But to then make her bald doesn't add much (if anything) to the overall design. If anything, it shows a lack of creativity to go with a pre-established look and changing one small detail about it. Also, not sure what's going on on her head, is that a mohawk and visor? The photo quality makes it impossible to tell.

2) She's Cammy, right down to the leotard, leg stripes and face stripes. Adding a jacket and Indian features doesn't detract from that fact. Also, I'm not quite getting the mask. Again, better photo quality would rectify that.

3) I like pallet swapping, but we've already got a purple ninja.

4) That's Johnny Cage. Fair enough if you like JC's look, but do something more to differentiate your character from him. Spiking his fringe and removing the chest tattoo isn't enough I'm afraid.

Your anatomy isn't bad. The feet on Cammy and Purple Ninja need lots of work (as does Cammy's right leg in general) and JC's right nipple should be further out.

What's severely lacking is creativity. All I can say is look at other people's works. Don't fall on clichéd looks unless that's what you're deliberately going for, and if you're going to do a pallet swap, either change enough of the design to make it original enough or just do a straight-out pallet swap. Don't meet us half-way.

I'm not trying to be a person who can't take criticism here, but you're right. This isn't excuse either, but blame what I have at home to use for coloring and that is the crayons. Since I left all my good art materials back at school, I just have this, and since crayons do not really give me a chance to show off some really cool designs and such, I leave you with plain, unoriginal, uninspiring work. Majority of my crayons have flat heads, not sharp, so I can't do delicate work and I do not have a sharpener in any way to make them sharper.

Not to mention, this took me only 30 minutes. Since people take a lot more time in their work, this was just something to post because I really haven't posted anything artistic wise on here. Again, I apologize for unoriginal creations... But don't worry, there will be soon.

What is on Scarlet's head was supposed to be braids in a high pony-tail. I should have at least made her look sideways for a decent view of it. Since everyone basically pictures Scarlet in a MK3 look, I gave her that appearance. Yet, I could have gone into a different direction, but the lack of better drawing utensils caused me to not do such a great job here.

Also, I do not have a scanner unfortunately, mine is at school... Again...

Wrong, that is not Cammy, no Street Fighter influence at all with her. But good guess.

Despite that I took this picture with a camera, that color is supposed to be pink.

Actually, I took that model off of Jax's MK3 artwork.

I'm going to be heading into the city on Friday for a few days, so I'm going to try to find the bookstore that's near my apartment. Hopefully, they still have that one artbook that shows the anatomy because I definitely need to do some more poses before entering my animation class.

Again, that is not Cammy, think more of N64 games... that's my only clue.

I do actually look at other people's artwork on here, mostly Aculues... however you spell his name, and the latest artwork that has been posted lately. Despite that I did put effort in here, I just threw this out here just so that some people could have a taste in what I'm going to try. Lack of Photoshop helps to make the pictures look better, lack of good art materials that I have here at home, thankfully and hopefully, I get to go shopping so I can at least have something better than using crayons.

Because out of all the art teachers that I have, they all say don't use crayons... I still like to do something with them.

But thank you for the feedback, appreciate it a lot, and no sarcasm is used here either.

If we're talking about Crayola crayons.I would never resort to them. Just leave in black and white/grayscale with pencils or inks.

Crayons give pictures a cheap-like quality. It's meant for children. But there are probably a few artists out there that really know how to use it well.

But they're oh-so fun to use at times and I do miss using crayons.

They were the shit back in kindergarten and you were immediately popular if you had the large set.

But of course, in detailed pictures, they're horrible to use. I just wanted to flare up a little bit with the picture since I don't have any art program on my laptops, and this is said from a student who's in one of the top art schools in the world. At least I think they're a top school around the world.

Thanks for taking the criticism on the chin. None of it was intended to be hurtful, just blunt; it’s good you took it that way. Not much more to add from my last post so...

Like you said, it’s not an excuse so...

Ok well you know what to fix here. And yeah I didn’t believe you’d choose to use your camera unless it was a dead-last resort.

Whatever character inspired you with this one is a rip-off of Cammy too. The similarities are just too obvious: it uses features that pretty much define Cammy as a character (which I listed before – plus the blond platted hair). I never owned a 64 I don’t know who it might be. From a fighting game?

I want to complain about a pink ninja, but that’s more personal taste than objective criticism. On second look, I like that you kept his chest black but left him sleeveless, I think that’s a pretty cool look.

Either way, it still looks way too much like Johnny Cage.

Otherwise you could take photos of yourself or friends posing how you want to give you an idea, at least that way you won’t make some of the more obvious mistakes (probably more relevant to your Kitana pic anyway).
