The artist captured classic Kintaro really well. I would love for him to look like that as long as he's an unplayable sub-boss. But if he's playable I'd prefer the slimmed down Kintaro from Armageddon. I thought he looked pretty badass in that game.

I don't know about you but I don't mind kintaro being slimmed down to be playable but I don't want to play as the cat man with a Chinese style ponytail again. To me MK:SM style kintaro was fucking epic.

I mean yeah Goro has a ponytail, no reason to give Kintaro one. I think him being bald makes him look more like a badass and give him a more distinguished along with the faint tiger stripped markings.

Most of the MK:SM designs were among the best versions of these characters that we've ever seen. They'd be fools not to look to that game for inspiration considering that this game is supposed to be taking place within the same timeline.
