hey, this is my first custom MK fatality (I guess you'd call it that). I just collided all the images together on the stage "cave" from MKTrilogy and made my own fatality. Took a lot of editing, enjoy! This is my first, ever.

Alright,I will tell you before anyone else. Its not good.

Finish him and Fatality same time on the screen.

Skeleton appears to be sitting on a chair, which is actually the explosion.

Life bars look very poorly done, text doesnt look right at all.

The timer,oh boy, this is one of the worst parts. The timer is all black with the explosion behind having a big black box with numbers in it exploding along side it.If the black wasnt there,it would look alright.

Lastly,Shang's pose,it doesnt look right either.I understand the concept, but it just doesnt look right at all.

So overall,I really dont like it.But you can and will get better with fakes, this is only a first. 3/10

First, that is a real stance from Shang Tsung. Second, that is a real health bar from MK2. Third, FINSIH HIM and FATALITY are supposed to be on the screen at the same time. Its always been that way. It says "FINISH HIM!" and you do the fatality and then FATALITY appears and the screen freezes.

Shang Tsung is also from MK2. I'll change the text right now since I just got an MK2, MK1, MK3 and MK4 Font. Then, I'll change the chair and the timer. Hopefully that will be good enough. I THOUGHT the timer was supposed to be black right there, I didn't remember is was clear. Thanks for response.

Was I able to redeem myself up to a 5 or 6 for the first time? confused

Alright....

1.Never said it wasn't the real stance for Shang,I realize that. But it doesnt look right with this.

2.Real health bar or not,the way the text is out of play, and just a poor choice takes down points.

3.When you defeat your opponent,Finish Him! comes across the screen, after being said it GOES AWAY as it lets you have a chance to pull of a fatality. If you are successful, the fatality will go through and 'Shang Tsung Wins' will pop up as well as be said, follow by 'Fatality'.Go try a fatal in mk1 mk2 or mk3 and you will see.And if you cant,im sure someone will tell you.

Looks alittle better now.Better then before at least.Still nothing special, buts its better. 5/10

Nicely done.

I'd change a couple things:
-Shang seems to be spiting fire, but it's hard to tell, make it more noticeable.
-The text is squeezed for the names, it looks a bit odd
-The fire and skeleton blends with the background too much, and frankly I think too many people making fakes use existing MK backgrounds(I've been guilty of this too)...use non mk backgrounds, in fact, try to incorporate photos, you'll really break the mold.

Any better? I completely redid the text, healthbar, took out the explosion and FATALITY and added "Shang Tsung Wins. Flawless Victory."

Much better, this is a big improvement. Good job. I'd still recommend using a custom background in some of your next fakes, but then again, most people around here might not appreciate it.

I'm just gonna leave it like it is. I don't feel like doing enything else to it. Thank you guys so much for all the help, it was tougher than I thought doing that. I am gonna move on to another fake and make myself a photoshop signature using a tut.

Thanks so much Rabid. Right now I'm workin on learning Photoshop, I wanna get good with that. I guess the sig I made that I have right now is OK, but I want to do better. I used that turorial listed here on the forums though (sorry buddy I cant remember you're name! but big thanks!) . I'm real glad I went from a 3/10 to an 8.5/10, thanks.
The newest version looks much better.

Things to fix

1= Take out that red line under Shang's life bar.

2= I'd take out the Shang Tsung wins .............. and fatality out. In the game, that stuff doesn't show up until after the fatality is finished, not while it's happening.

Extra stuff to add

1= Add some orange light to the floor under the skeleton. As if the fire was shining light on it.

2= Stretch liu kang's fireball up and out of the picture. so it looks like one long fireball, not like multiple fireballs, unless that's what you wanted.

Another way to do it is to replace the fire coming out of Shang's mouth with cinder particles. Like the small fire particles around the skeleton.

So that it looks like 1 fire ball came out of shang's mouth and left a trail.

3= Get in to sprite editing. Combine different body parts from different sprites to create the pose you want.

4= How is it that the fire is being shot up, but it's shooting down on the opponent? It's not clear how this is happening. I think there should be a sign of an ark to the fire stream. This might require a new pose for shang.

I like your concept a lot by the way.

How is that not clear? Hes shooting one flaming "bolt" of fire into the air, and it came back down on the opponent's head. It left a trail behind it.
I didn't explain it clearly enough I guess.

I meant that it should have some kind of suggestion to explain what's happening off screen.

Here is an example I made. I remade your fake with all the tips I gave you.

Check it out....

Notice the cinder particles crossing from one side of the screen to the other and how the light on the floor stretches out towards Shang Tsung.

This shows that there is a bright light connecting from one visible fire to the other so it looks like 1 fireball instead of 2.

You don't really have to do that, but I think it just looks better.

I hope that helps.

Wow, I was just pwned completely. Nicely, nicely done. One thing I don't like though is the healthbars and the font. Although, in the real MK, there wasn't any particles like than or any glare on the floor. It was just an image in the background with two characters fighting. They really didnt cast any shadows, glares, etc. on the ground. But what you did looks amazing! Howd you do that? Can you give me like a mini tut to do it in like PhotoShop CS?
You don't like the life bars or the font?

Those are original from the game....

I like the MK2 life bars better than the MK3 ones because they look more organinc and old.

Anyway, yeah I can do a quick tutorial, maybe tonight I'll work on that.

I made the fake in Photo shop 7.

About the extra effects, I like to go beyond what was done in the actual games. If they make new 2D MK games I hope they do extra effects like that.

Hey thanks man. I know its a lot of work cookin up a tutorial, if its too much work I wouldn't mind. But great job, heh, that was my first Fake ever too. I had to do it in Paint too. I got the trial of PhotoShop CS right now, and Ive been cookin up signatures. Im probably gonna get the full version.
