I must say that this image is virtually flawless. The only issues I have with it begin with the lack of a custom background, or a background that corresponds with the MK:DA sprites (e.g., a 2D version of an MK:DA arena). I have never been too big a fan of creating backgrounds myself, although later on in this set of critiques you will see various 2D versions of backgrounds exclusive to MK:DA, as well as wholly custom backgrounds. I am a huge fan of my choice of fonts and life bars. I love the 3D look of the life bars, and the correlation between the select fonts and font colors. Also, although this is not the first image I used to flash my custom victory dragon medallions, they were basically created out of boredom and grew into one of the more preferred elements of many self-produced fake pictures to come. In addition to the lack of a background relating to the origin of the sprites, flaws-or what I like to call personal impartialities-of the image include Hsu Hao’s facial appearance. His hat looks fine, but his face lacks much of the detail it is supposed to possess. The reasoning behind this is that the sprite was so small in comparison to the sources of which this image is derivative that it was virtually impossible to further any obvious details without disrupting the overall look of the image. The laser looks beautiful, Hsu Hao’s and Kano’s abdominal muscles are perfectly constructed, and flaws are virtually nonexistent. The appearances correspond superbly with those of their 3D counterparts. The position of the shadows correspond with the light sources (the smelting pits dispensing molten steel) and attention to such diminutive but distinctive detail is why I must give it such an excellent rating.

Hit me.

I am guessing that the lower half of Hao is made from Smoke?

Superb my friend, excellent job.

The Fake is ok, but i would advise u 2 use mkda characters with mkda backgrounds, cuz, u know it kinda looks weird. secondley, u should try to fix up hsu hao's right arm it looks kinda weird, also next time try to use color. saturation and lighting more often, cuz this fake needs more light. thirdly, try to make the sprites a bit less cartoony, but i do have 2 give u credit that u improved the cartoony look from your last fake which had kenshi and max dam, if anyone wants to see it this is the link:

also i think that u put more effort into this fake then the other so i will give u a 8/10, and for next time just remember to put more eeffort into it.

Not even close; I used MK3 Kano (his knife throwing stance) as the base for everything above and below the waist.

I mentioned, in my own critique, that one of my main issues with the image is the lack of a MK:DA-oriented background. I've actually got a couple backgrounds (the Nethership and Moloch's Lair) that I produced a few weeks after this image was composed, but this background looks better in relation to the sprites. I'll be the first to admit that my backgrounds are never very impressive when compared to the sprites that I create. I despise forming backgrounds, because there is basically nothing to use as a base, and there are always more complaints about the background than the sprites involved, which always takes away from the meat of the image--the competing sprites.

Heh, I don't see how I'd need to use any saturation. The glossiness of the sprites is fine. I used plenty of lighting, but the fact remains that when the lights dim once a fatality is being performed, shading has more of an affect than lighting. I go for a realism, I don't splash bright ass "My Little Pony" colors everywhere and use excessive brightness effects.

I know the sprites look a bit cartoony, but I didn't spend as much time producing them as I did any of my previous fakes. I'll post something soon enough (MK:DA Reptile versus Shao Kahn) that appears a lot more realistic than the two fakes I recently posted. I'm not the biggest fan of the MK:DA character appearances, but Reptile's has always intrigued me, and looks a Hell of a lot better than any of the other outfits any other character possesses in the game. Anyway...

I didn't go edit-crazy with this one. I love the the way that it turned out, even though the editing job on Hsu Hao did turn out somewhat cartoonish. Eh. I can't please everyone.

The laser effect how is hitting Kano's chest is a nice touch. Though I don't like how you made the laser. You should've made it glow, or add a lens flare effect somewhere around there. But nonetheless, your work is always kickass, Veno. Nice job.

Whats more amusing than the pic, is that you wrote a small essay on how great it is.

Anyway...

The lifebar color scheme doesn't appeal to me. Plain red, green, and neonish yellow? I feel it would have worked better with just 2 colors. I don't feel green is the right color for the dragon symbols. Red, black, gold, silver... something like that would reflect the game much better. And I prefer transparent bars when health is depleted. And why is the timer blury? Why didn't you just use a MKD or MKDA timer/lifebar?

Since you went with a background overwhelmingly brown, it would have been wise to choose some more colorful characters, or at least add some more color to the costumes of the ones you chose. Hsu Hao is mainly skin and brown colored, and Kano is skin and black. That, combined with the dull colored background, creates a dull fake.

The action in the scene is meh. Hsu Hao may as well be shining a flash light on kano. It would have been more interesting to see some smoke or burning/ripped flesh. And hsu hao's expression is odd

Meh, What's going on Veno? Your sprites used to be a hell lot more detailed and sharper. The pants on both sprites are too shaded imo. Judging by the title I was expecting another type laser surgery; gory and saddistic. The fake is too plain and nothing is really going on.
