I'm no expert ont fakes, but even I can say that looks god-awful.

Why the hell is Liu Kang green? Did he turn into the Asian Incredible Hulk or what? What is that black crap circulating around him and what is that in his hands? Why did you totally screw up his dragon fireball?

I'm not sure why fire would cause Smoke to split in half... you even managed to f*** up his sprite edit, even though it only required a simple copy and paste and a little bit of blood editing.

The only thing I like is the background and that's the MK Team's work, so they get a 10/10. You get a 1/10.

I suggest you don't use sprites from an SNES/Gensis rom and don't use MS Paint (or whatever you used). Rip them form M.A.M.E. Or if you're feeling a bit lazy get the ones from the MKWarehouse. Read the stickied topic on art programs, I suggest getting photoshop and/or paintshoppro.

I think it's supposed to be zombie Liu Kang judging from the wounds all over his body, but the colors are too sharp and contrasted and it could be shaded better.

First off, the reason why Liu is green is becuse he's probably refering to undead Liu. I'm guessing the black stuff around him is smoke. And he probably tried editing the fireball.

You're still trying, and I give you a lot of credit in doing that. I can't make a fake like that. At least its something. I'm sure if you asked someone around here that can edit sprites can help you make a zombified version of Liu. Help you out in blood effects and making someone be split into two.

I'll give you a 3 / 5 becuase you did try your hardest and make something decent.

I didn't know fire would do that to a human body. It'd make more sense if a sharp projectile was shot up it'd split his body in half like that. Theres not even an explosion to indicate why it split... and if the excuse was an explosion caused it WHERE IS IT IN THE FAKE? Fire balls tend to burn things, not cut them in half like a big axe.

I'd say duh back to you... but that's a silly word for kids.

As for the fake your technique needs some work. It's admirable that you attempted sprite editing, but you need to watch out for colours when you swap pallets. As you can see Liu Kang looks more like an alien than a zombie.

See how smoke's skin and gore turned grey too when you switched colours? Next time isolate the colour you wish to change from everyone else (I'm guessing you used a scorpion sprite, subzero is much easier cos his clothes are blue)

Use lifebars and shadows next time to make it look more complete

Since you asked nicely, I will oblige.

Outside of the basic premise (fireball, cut in half, etc) I really don't know what you're trying to do here. Liu Kang is Hulkin' out, which makes no sense. If you were trying to make him glow/power up, you should have taken a low opacity brush and built up a glow around the border of his body (if you want an example, ask).

The "edits" to the effects are too... non-detailed. You used single colors that completely clash with the exterior of the effects, thus creating something that makes me want to gauge out my eyes with rusty nails. Try to make things flow when making effects.

The ninja just looks bad, the pallette swap is horrid..

In the future try to make things flow and try to make something that doesn't scream "crap."

Fake seems to be a pallete that was poorly done. I kinda get why part of Smoke is darker than the other half, but am not totally sure. The fireball looks bad though, very bad. I don't really like the fake, but this is just your second one. Keep practicing on sprite edits, and eventually you'll get it

It's really all very simple. The execution is just plain terrible. The colors... gah. Really, can't you look at your fake and see what's wrong for yourself? It's all pretty obvious.

I think the image is garbage. You need to start small before you can move on to actual editing. When I say small, I am not referring to copy and paste, but simply start with manipulating images such as what can go to what. After, you can start being more technical such as using the paintbrush and other effects. You can learn how to do that kind of stuff by simply going to Photoshop tutorials websites. Apply those tutorials to your fake pics 'cause that's what I use to do and it helps a lot.

Don't you EVER say "don't use MS Paint"...EVER. I won't even give the reason why because I want to smack you for saying it.

first post in like i don't know how long! yay!

anyways I'm not saying I'm the next [insert name of artist who uses ms paint] or K1llkano, but i use paint a lot and it's a lot simpler for a beginner. until cyberevil gets better, paint is perfect to cater to his current range of abilities. then he should move on to using photoshop and stuff, because frankly it confuzzles the hell out of me to this day. I still use paint, although i've since retreated into quiet retirement. but i'm just like led zeppelin, you never know when i might make my comeback...anyways for those people who think that ms paint sucks, i want you to take a quick glance at any piece of work the k1llkano has ever constructed, and then come back here and respond.

Paint doesn't suck unless you have no idea wtf you're doing. I exclusively use MS Paint, as PS, and even Gimp confuzzle the hell outta me.
