how could one of my favorite characters look any better then he did in mk:da? well, he does in this picture, you did a very good job on this piece, though, the only problem i see is, he looks, like he is around late 40's to early 50's for some reason in this pic, but besides that, this is a very excellent picture, five out of five dragons

Thats a nice pic, good to see some of your work again. He does look a little aged in the face, but h is getting old. His arms look great, they dont look "uncomfortable" at all, which is a problem i see a lot, and the metal linking at his elbow is a great add. I like his pants and vest, the colors are nice and blend with the picture well. Nice job.

Better looking as a thumbnail then the full scale image. There's something wrong with his face and i think his shoulders aren't wide enough.

My only critique would be his face. For some reason he looks more like a white guy. Not the color, the features. It might the lips or the high cheek bones.

Other than that, the arms not only look cool they look very functional. Like very buff Storm Trooper armour. His fatigues and gear are very detailed. Just top notch pencil work all over. Tobias would be proud.

A white guy huh? Honestly I had never seen a White guy with facial features like that, however I have seen Black people with facial fatures like that, i.e. Carl Weathers, Malcom Jamal Warner, even LL Cool J. But I didn't draw him after them. White people tend to have long slender faces. I mean what did you expect? Flat big nose, big fat lips? Honestly, I am not aiming for stereotypes, that'll tend to piss off more people than the what I had done. Other than that, Good critique, just try not to stereotype, that'll tend to make you look bad on your own part.

Stereotypes, what are you talking about? I didn't say draw him like Sambo for goodness sake. At this moment I am looking at 5 such people in my class right now. The checkbones in your picture are a bit too small and high. As for the lips I was talking about the shape not the size. You drew them plenty big enough but the high arch has a inward curve that is usually more appropriate for caucasians. Perhaps he looks more like a woman in the face, maybe that's what I saw.

Now I realize that everyone in the entire world can look infinately different. That isn't the issue. When you are presenting artwork most people have a predefined idea in their head what people look like. An average person may not have the skill to render anatomy on paper accuratly but they can sure tell when you've drawn it wrong. Same thing goes for the face. Artists have to be careful when they draw because when you stray to far out of a norm people will immediately see a problem even if there isn't one.

When me and a group of collegues were learning how to construct people in 3D the face was always an issue. I went straight off reference photos and got it pretty close but people always saw flaws. What they were seeing were flaws in the persons actual face that nature had created. Even though what I did was very realistic people still had problems with it.

I wasn't really talking earlier to say what you did was wrong. Just giving pointers that any art professor would suggest. Maybe, just maybe, that's where I got it from.

I still think it's a very good drawing.
