There never have been too many Mavado drawings, at least not many that I remember (I remember Jade's though .)

Anyhow,
I agree with you that Mavado would probably be the first MK character likely to be smoking. It seems to fit his design here very well.
His costume, as usual, is hugely detailed some of which, I would probably say is unnecessary , but still, excellent job with that. As for the look of his costume, it is very nice, and I love the idea with the cape.

His pose is a very good choice, standing with one leg on a higher platform. You can just tell "leader" from it, or something .

His facial thisthingisdisabled and hair are very good, however, it may just be me, or even the way he is standing, but his face does seem to be a little bit flat, like he was smacked in the face with a frying pan kind of flat, lol.

But once again, you astound me , nice job .

The drawing is great. Doesn't strike me as Mavado though. Could be the anime influence but he looks more like Ryu. Looks like he's striking the Hadoken pose as well. MWyatt

ur anime is showing, the hair looks to anime looking in my opinion, but thats how u have always drawn it. Other than that i must say i love the costume and the pose, it was a great idea to make him smoking too, nie job.

Woah that fucking owns. It has very good details and he truely looks lke a warrior. Nice shading, and nice details. Great job, the only thing that will make yur drawing better is if he was holding his hook swords or The Red Dragon symbol on his back.

This is indeed very cool, don't see many Mavado concepts around usually. I wouldn't say this looked anything like anime though, at all. The 'tossled' hairstyle is for some reason commonly associated with anime or final fantasy or something of the sort. The character himself looks nothing like any anime character I have seen.

The smoking idea was nice, not something we have seen in MK, a nice original idea I think. I pose is very nice, seems ti fit that whole 'gang' idea. I do miss his cloak though, but I understand all of your concepts are you're own original ideas. I do like this new look, I think you kept enough cloth while adding some other details of your own. I love the chestpiece, very cool looking. The boots are also sort of cool looking, very fitting for this character I think.

Also, I must say I enjoyed the story you gave in your description. While I like Quan Chi, I like Shang Tsung a bit more. And many don't even want to explore the Red/Black Dragon clans rivalry, and personally I'd like to see that. Very nice concept, I like this.

Ha, ha, my sentiments exactly. Well look two comments down at Karim's avatar, see the picture of Ryu. That's the first thing I saw after your drawing and you have to admit it's a pretty close resemblance.

After a second look at the body design I'll have to change my mind. It does have more of a Western feel to it (hemisphere not cowboy). Can't change it on the face though.

Im glad someone out there actually thinks anime is a bit lame. I mean, it looks nice but fuck, its very boring looking, wheres the grit or the edge? Dragon Ball was cool... I guess. But anyway, I always thought your opinion counted the most since your harder to impress, having hard critics is a gift... except my grade 12 teacher, Ill shut that motherfucker up!

I absolutely hate Anime myself, it's just not jaw-dropping and it never interested me.

It really depends on the artist... Most mangas you'll see have absolutely fantastic and detailed artwork. The first one that comes to my mind are the later Flame of Recca mangas. Very detailed and gritty, very action filled and bloody fights.

We're just talking about typical manga/anime, in other words crap. I agree that some are highly detailed and to my liking. Have you ever seen "Blades of the Immortal"? That stuff rules, he has 8 fucking blades, thats awesome! But yeah, anime sucks, check out the shit on FOX, what kind of retarded shit is that? Fighting Foods? Give me a goddamn break.

Once again you've created another stunning piece . The lines in this flow very nicely and the shadows work great with this style (as I've come to realize). His stance is good but something about the way his head is positioned doesn't sit right with me. Very lovely. 5/5
