(This story is non-cannon; therefore, I have no idea where it would fit in)
It was just another day in Rome, and I was getting ready for a battle in the Colosseum. I was a slave, and I had to win my freedom. I beat fighters from all over the world, and I could crush a mans skull with one hand. I had no other purposes; I was not part of anything else in Rome. My purpose was for entertainment for others, and my own individual purpose: freedom. I did have a family in Mongolia, until Roman soldiers slaughtered my family and my son, my wife and me were burned and hanged. They took me prisoner, and Caesar made me his servant, or in such speaking; his slave. When I was captured, and tortured by Roman soldiers and watching my family burn hanging from a tree right before my eyes, Caesar spit in my face and said he did not like Mongols, especially me.
However, there was something special about this day; I sensed that the gods favored me. When the battle was ready to begin, the others were picking out their armor; I picked out a shield and a sword. While the others continued to pick out their weapons, I felt a draft from my prison cell. I went back to it, the dungeon was empty, and I was the only one in there. I then knew that the draft was not coming from my cell, but at the end of the dungeon. I followed where the draft was coming from. I then came close to the right end of the dungeon. As I crept closer to the right wall, the stronger the draft became. I then came three feet in front of the wall, and all of a sudden, I was sucked into the wall, through some portal like configuration. I traveled so fast that I felt as my skin was going to peel of off me. I felt cold but hot inside as I traveled.
Finally, I saw a light; I came to the end of my travel. I was shot out of the portal with such force. I smacked off the ground and landed. I got up and tried to get back to the portal to go home, but it disappeared in the midst of the air. I was at a very hot place, with black lithosphere parts, and the atmosphere was quite crude with orange and yellow colors and there were no rivers, only rivers of lava. It felt like the Underworld. I began to explore the place. It was very quiet and eerie. I saw species that I never saw before roam the lands. I saw zombies and what looked like demons wander around aimlessly. I wandered over to a place that looked like ruins. I began to walk deeper into the ruins when a gray man attacked me.
We fought until the both of us came to our senses. He asked me who I was and how I got here. I said my name is Maximus I am from the ancient empire known as Rome. I also said that I was embedded into some unknown portal, and here I am. He said his name was Quan-Chi, and that he was a sorcerer. He said that the place I am in is the Netherrealm. He said he attacked me because he did not know who or what I was, and just simply wanted answers. He offered me a chance to get back to my homeland if I did one favor. I was to supply a fake amulet to a man known as Shinnok in order for Quan-Chi to secure the real amulet for himself. I agreed to do the task.
I searched the realm for days until I came across a profane man. He asked me who I was and what I was doing here. I said my name is Maximus I am from the ancient empire known as Rome. I also said that I was embedded into some unknown portal, and I ended up here. He believed that such events could have occurred and introduced himself. He was Shinnok, he said he is here because of banishment, and now searches for a man named Quan-Chi, for he believes that he has a amulet of great power that belongs to him. He asked me to look for it, so I did. I went behind Shinnok's back and hid the fake amulet. With that, Quan-Chi could keep the real amulet, without Shinnok knowing. I told Shinnok where I have found it, and he was most pleased. I lead him into the location of the fake amulet, and there both Quan-Chi and I ambushed him, and defeated him.
Quan-Chi then took the fake amulet in case something like this were to happen again. As promised, Quan-Chi would open a portal back to my homeland. We went back to the ruins, and then he double-crossed me. He stated that he does not have the power to activate a live time portal. Then, I did what I was ordered, my true intention with Quan-Chi. Before I went to the ruins I went over to a small peninsula, and there I met a ninja called Scorpion. He promised me he would get me a way home, if I did a task for him. Scorpion told me to go over to the ruins and find a gray man called Quan-Chi, his bitter rival. He told me to act as if I did not know him and explain to him how I got here and that I need a way home. Scorpion also told me to lure him into thinking that you are an ally, that way he will give me a task to do in order to get home. Then after I completed what Quan-Chi wanted, Scorpion advised that Quan-Chi would double cross me, for he knew that Quan-Chi could not do such a request as mine. Then he requested that I attack Quan-Chi at that moment and then Scorpion would come and fight as well.
Therefore, I attacked Quan-Chi, and weakened him. Then Scorpion as promised jumped from the shadows and assisted me in my assault. The both of us mauled Quan-Chi, and we defeated him within an inch of his life. When I came to my senses, I saw a beaten Quan-Chi, and then I wondered where is Scorpion? He had disappeared, he was now gone. I had no idea where he went. I grabbed the real amulet from Quan-Chi, and left him with the fake amulet. Quan-Chi then got up and saw me, and ran into a portal he created as I chased him, not knowing that I had the real amulet.
I will now try to figure out if I can discover how much power this amulet has, and possibly, I can create a way home. Both Quan-Chi and Scorpion used me as a tool for there means, and if I encounter them again, by fate or intention, both of them will not be so fortunate. Now I must fight to save my life, and take advantage of the amulet and its spoken power that was valued by both Quan-Chi and Shinnok.
