^^ aaaaah.. good old A-kon. XP Where cosplayers are abound. For all those who don't know what a cosplayer is: we are the crazy people who spend hours upon hours and several dollars to look like a movie/anime/videogame character.

:3 This year I was in a group that did mortal kombat deception. Sadly the group only amounted to 3 people. We did have others who were assigned characters... but they ran out of time to actually create their costumes.


Li Mei on the far left is me :3 I created her outfit by modifying a swimsuit pattern. The hardest part was getting those stupid boots to stay up >.< Next time I am supergluing them to myself (not joking either). Tiny tiny little outfit o.o Materials: stretchy dark purple dancer material and a light purple cotton. Overall I am happy with how it turned out. As for inconsistencies between the original and my cosplay outfit:
There were no golden decorations. I didn't have time to actually craft them.
The outfit is actually smaller than what is in the game so that it would stay on my chest o.o.
The back of the top of the outfit was constructed completely different so that it would have more support.
No minor details.. such as the thinner areas of light purple on the boots.
I may post another picture of it later.. a front view :3 I am really happy with how it turned out.

Middle: My boyfriend, Clint. Dressed up as dead Liu Kang. Outfit created by me. Modified a pants pattern and got a wig and chains for him to play around with. :3 Overall this outfit turned out identical to the game's outfit. The only inconstancy was that we couldn't make him perfectly gray and he didn't have an eye popping out of his head. (he was grayer than what it appears in the picture however.
Yes he also has the leg straps on both legs. Just that the leg strap that is closest to the camera fell down and you can't see it XP.

Far right: My friend Kytty as Mileena. Outfit made by her O.o She did a wonderful job on this by the way. Underneath the veil she actually had the teeth (mutilated a Halloween mask to pull it off) I will definitely be showing more of her outfit on here later.
Inconstancy: It's a one piece not a two piece.. sorry guys XP. She created the base by sewing everything onto a dance leotard that was flesh color.
