sup everyone. wasnt too sure where to put this one but i figured id put it here since it revolves around sprites and art

anyways, ive been into mugen for a long time now and have been working on my own projects for a long time now (damn near 3 years).

for all those that dont know, this project started out as "mk: rebirth" but was canceled (and just to let everyone know, it is being worked on again!) when i started it back up, it became "mk: ninja kombat" as a working title. the projects official name is: Ninja Kombat: Kirisute Gomen

6 chars. around 10 stages. dont need 50+ chars and 200 stages, i wanted the gameplay to shine. dodges, counters, parrys, breakers, wakeup, etc. its all here so all the gameplay nuts like myself are going to love it.

been a lot of new things added

heres a quick vid of the progress. nothing too fancy, only shows off 3 of the chars... but shows you some things here and there. give it a look

You are a fucking god at MUGEN. The combo systems are great, the reversals are perfect. I can't wait for this one.

Did... Scorpion just choke out his mirror image towards the end?nWhat did he do when they were both on the ground around :58-1:00?

Oh and I liked the music, where's it from?

But good job though, good job. How the heck did UMK3 couldn't somehow make the characters do stunts like these in the game I'll never know.

its an armbar. submission hold. once you are in it, you can press buttons rapidly to get out (like test your might) if you get it in time, you escape, if not you get your arm broken.

the music is from the opening movie from mk shaolin monks.

Well.

That was incredible.

Great job, I really love it how you edited sprites to make them accurate to the moves of the fighting styles in the 3D games, like the Snake and Hapkido strikes.

I really like the look for Reptile too.

And the submission hold thing, if it works, could be very, very cool.

thanks. wanted to bring my love of wrestling and mma into it, but at the same time ninjas really did do holds like that, so it adds a more realistic approach to the moves. turned out better then i expected it would. and out of everything ive shown the past few years, its getting the biggest reaction by far. everyones like "WTF?? ARMBAR!!!" lol.

im trying to please everyone in the mk community. the first style for every char is "classic" which is based on the classic mk games. hp, lp, hk, lk, etc..then the second style is based off the newer style mk games. along with elements of mksm and other games...it all blends and fits together really well.

wanted rep to have that mksm feel to him, so i did the green skin. bleed did some of the snake sprites as well as a couple of the hapkido ones. glad he did, bc editing those things are a nightmare when you are working on a project by yourself. i have hapkido playing pretty close to mka

really goes to show what the mk team could do if they went back to 2d.

I really love the sprites they look like perfect resemblances. The Scorpion I have turns into Reptile when he jumps for some reason.

Maybe it's just the video though, or maybe that's your intention, but are his attacks meant to be a bit slow to allow him more vulnerability (I've never played Special Forces so aside from his existence, I know little about how he fought)? I thought that aside from his red projectile and body check, most attacks took some time to execute. I guess it's to make the ninjas more diverse (he'd be the stronger, slower guy?).
I'm liking what I'm seeing, keep up the good work.

lol, good point, some people are too anxious to scold people on bumping without checking the date.

you are correct. tremor is taller then the others. hes the most powerful strength wise. his moves do more damage, but take a lil longer to pull off (think sumo with bo rai cho) hes a bit slower. theres 2 different rock attacks. ones a bit faster then the other and they do different damage amounts. the red projectile, was jareks blade attack in mk4.

im trying to make them as diverse as i can ability wise. reptile is the most agile...can jump higher and further. he deals less damage, but has better defense. scorpion is well balanced. sub is quick, but technical. noob-smoke is CONFUSION lol.

been a long time since ive posted, or updated my mugen stuff here. instead of creating a new topic, just brought back the old one. hope thats ok.

with that being said, the game has been released today.

beta demo 1.0.A is available to the public.
