These two backgrounds (made quite awhile ago) are concepts for my MK1 remake.

The Dead Lands

The Haunted Woods

If you haven't seen them already, you can also see my Scorpion and Prince Goro concepts at the following URL: http://home.cogeco.ca/~rnicholls2/gallery.htm

Feedback is appreciated. I already have the entire storyline mapped out and written...

Thanks everybody. Feel free to use these backgrounds as you wish - that's why they were made (sort of wink)

Anyway, when it comes to the He-Man.org link, I'm a HUGE Masters of the Universe fan :)
(That website is my personal site and I rotate my gallery a lot...)

What's parallax?

Gl1tch: Are you also a forum member over at He-Man.org? If so, what's your Username?

I REALLY REALLY wanted to be... but for some god awfull reason, they won't let free Email users sign up! so I can't be a member because I have yahoomail!...but I go there all the time. I wish they wouldn't be so strict about it.

parallax would be if you made the background in several pieces for different depths. When you move the `camera` you scroll the different depth bits by different amounts- The foreground moves a lot, the trees move a bit less, the trees further in the background a bit less, and the sky and stuff at ~infinite distance not at all.

You see this in old 2d scrolling games.

Your backgrounds look like they`d be really suited to parallax.

The layers in front of the very furthest background should have holes where there isn`t anything (don`t know what you`re using for your game but i think you can use black=transparancy, or you may be able to use the alpha channel for transparency).

If you have planes that are perpendicular to the direction you are looking in, the amount of pixels on screen they will scroll across if you move the camera perpendicular to the direction of looking will be _inversely_ proportional to how far away from the viewer the plane is.

Probably not making too much sense but i could maybe make a demo for you- always wanted to make a sidescrolling shooter...

Unfortunately, I don't have the skills to create an actual game. I'm just visually re-conceptualizing MK1. Also, the story is considerably different :)

oh ok. They really are very good pictures though. I hear there`s an engine called `mugen` you can use to make 2d fighting games with, and it apparently isn`t too technical. Anyone can code, you just need a bit of time to learn it.
