Thats good i see you did the quan chi sprite over mk2 johnny cage cool.but the only problem is the shadows if you want to make them like the game here's how:click stretch/skew skew it about 45% and shrink them to half-size.you should try www.freewebs.com your quality will be better but save it as a .png when using freewebs.i have a question also how do you gray scale in paint?

Ok, well I appreciate the fact you have finally ventured into editing. But really, the jpeg really messed the sprite edits up quite bad. I'd recommend you trying to repost the image in a different format, perhaps PNG or even a Bitmap would be better than this, it may be slow, but its sometimes worth it.

Anyway, I see you went for an MKDA sort of feel with this. You should have shrunk down the mugshots, not cut them in half as you have done here. Also, the texts for their names is too large, and the wrong color/font, all the letters should be capitalized. Some of those things are just small details though, mainly just make it smaller. The shadows... not good. You can learn about shadows by way of timsmk's tutorial in a sticky thread at the top of this forum in the "Opinions" thread. Also, if you want the full MKDA effect, add on the style's and style bars.

The Quan Chi sprite isn't so bad actually, but like I said the file type has really taken a toll in some areas. It looks like you used Kahn's knee pads on him, it just doesn't seem like a very good look. The skin color looks just about perfect though, good job there. Also, that strap on his chest is my favorite part, its really excellent looking. That cloth between his legs is too light of a green though, and also it looks like one solid color, it needs some textures.

The sub-zero sprite isn't as good in my opinion. It doesn't look like you took as much time on him as you did with Quan Chi. His suit's color is off, it needs to be a deeper blue. His mask looks like its a different color than his suit is as well. His medallion is also on the wrong side of his chestpiece. I really don't like what you did with his hands, it doesn't look icy at all. A part of his arm looks really dark, but it could be the jpeg again. Also, that 'Fight' text looks a little too big.

But I do see improvement here, and it looks like you worked on some parts of this hard. Keep at it.

Well, here Your Score:

  • They look ok
  • 5/10
  • You get 2.5 Dragon

  • Also Quan Chi Sprite very suck...
It is nice that you have started editing, however, you obviously will need some practice to get the hang of it.
Quan Chi is probably the easiest to make of the MKDA characters (and maybe Scorp/Sub), but this is just a reasonable attempt, especially for a first.

    The Quan Chi Sprite

    - His chest looks a little too dark, he should be a little lighter (it's kind of grey at the moment).
    - His cloth that hangs from his waist is just one colour pretty much, and it makes it look very flat.
    - Is there an amulet on his belt? If it's that thing on his left side, then it's a little, um, grey. Should be orange with green centre.
    - The tattoos are not awfully good at all. It looks like you got the dark red/red and used the pencil/line tool and splattered a load of dots on there. You need to make them look like they are in ancient writing, i.e. interesting shapes etc.
    - His trousers are rather far up his chest (Simon Kowell anyone?).
    - I personally don't think that the Shao Kahn shin guards are needed for Quan Chi really, he just has his black trousers (which look pretty flat too, but not as bad).
    - His head and face are pretty messed up, heh. Not very round, it looks a little square from the side.

    The Sub-Zero Sprite

    - MKDA Sub-Zero? Well, if so, then he shouldn't have the lines in his "bands" across his chest.
    - He would also need to be a darker shade of blue.
    - The watery effect on his arms is a little flat as well. It doesn't look very textured.
    - He also has the blue parts on his trousers now, but they are absent here.
    - Generally you've just added things to it, instead of really changing it.

    Lifebars

    - Fine. The only things that would complete them are a timer and some wins texts inside the lifebars.

    Everything Else

    - The shadows are terrible, lol. Check the thread at the top of the fan art secton (or one of the top) it's a sticky entitled "Opinions on how fakes should be done". I've put in a graphical tutorial on the shadows which should help.

    The Good Things

+ Nice that you started editing.
+ A reasonable attempts at editing, good for a first.

Keep them up and practice a little. Mess around with stuff and see what works smile.

this is how i do it, i found the Sprite parts i wanted to use, then i sent all three into an email to my self, then right clicked on one and then hit edit picture, then it brings up the pic in a different window and you can click a button that asks "Remove color information?" so to that and you can grayscale pics. Of course its alot easier in other programs.
