Question, not a Submission:: Kreate a Kharakter Kompetition?

Alright people, here's the thing... All those who want there to be a Kreate a Kharakter Kompetition, post here and say you do! Then the chances of it happening will become greater. So fan-fiction writers and kharakter-kreators... Post away! ^^

I am not sure if this thread belongs here, so if it doesn't, please move it to the correct forum.

Anyways, I remember back in the day where we had these competitions where fans (that would be us) could create their own character, make art for them, describe their appearance, describe their moves, fighting styles, weapons, background stories... And then we would set them up against one another, one on one, where others voted which one was the best and ended up winning!

Anyone else remember that? What happened? Is it still being done on a regular basis and I have just missed it, or has it just died out?

I thought it was a fantasic way for us creative fans to come up with some wicked character ideas and just have fun! And I would love for it to return now while we are hyping on the upcoming Mortal Kombat.

Is there any chance for it to come happen again, or is this request a lost cause?

I know I can speak on behalf of Crow on this topic since he and I have discussed this and we're always open to creative contests like this. We've hosted contests in the past and even with tangible prizes, like posters signed by the MK team, the participation level was still pretty low.

If there was a real community interest, a contest can always happen.

We're hoping to hold this contest as the game's release draws closer (hoping for better participation levels than our last contest attempt). I enjoy holding them, but if there's not enough interest it's sort of all for naught. Even JAX's threads hardly get any response in this forum now. Not sure what happened to our art and writing community.

Well, if you ever decide to establish yet another Kreate a Kharakter Kompetition, then I will definately enter as well ^^

It was fun, it was creative and it's a nice way to spend some time on something else while waiting for the next MK. ;3

OH! BTW... How do I find the past competitions? do I have to go through the whole archive in hopes of getting to them or is it possible to get som easy links to them?

It would be nice to get some inspiration, and also to see what has already been made so we can avoid making similar characters.

I believe a web-site was once made for the competition, but the Elder Gods' forgive me that I have forgotten the URL a loooong time ago.

I would be down for something like this as well. I'm actually trying to develop a couple characters for a fanfic I want to write (complete with drawings). I hope to see this happen :)

And tangible prizes are always the shizz...grin

Would the character have to fit into the MK1-3 timeline or would it have to be a post-armageddon character? Since this MK seems to be a bit of both story wise... y'know

Mostly why I'm waiting to see more about the story before we definitely go ahead with this contest. I would assume the former however, since Raiden is the only time traveling expect we know of. Most likely, the character will need to fit in with the MK1-MK3 storyline (as presented in this game, anyway).

Feel free to keep posting here to show continuing support of this contest, like I said we can't rightly hold a contest if the interest isn't there.

Has to do with amount of interest combined with a (decent enough) working knowledge of the storyline. The best character creators will probably require some knowledge of what's happening in the MK canon, since usually characters are intertwined.
