I love the edits on Smoke.

I think the effect could use some work. I like it as it hits Smoke and goes all misty, but I think the part Rain is shooting should look more fluid.

Noob is actually a nice touch this time around. Usually an extra character detracts, but his placement is almost unnoticeable and works well with the idea.

I'll just point out what I think could've been fixed up...
I hate Rain's hair. I wasn't a fan of the pony tail he got in MKA, but there's something about the way you did it here that doesn't make it look right... Maybe it's just too dark and blends with the background or something, or maybe his head's too big for it to accommodate that much hair... Not really sure.
Smoke should look like he's short-circuiting. He's being sprayed with I'm assuming water vapour, and he's a machine, so maybe a few sparks around him or perhaps having his body look like it is convulsing with electrical surges would've demonstrated that he was in a lot of pain.
Another thing I'd like to point out is that smoke and water vapour do not look the same at all, and as such, there should be remnants of Smoke's own smoke being blown away behind him from the vapour, and it should be a darker colour to distinguish it from Rain's attack.
Despite all the detailed stuff I wrote, I really like this piece a lot, and am glad to give it 2 DPs (not as a rating, but actual DPs).

I'm not too keen on your Rain edit, and Smoke looks a bit bland, but I love the bg.

- I didn't like the hair either, but I find hair nearly impossible to create in sprite editing and I wanted to catch his MKA look as closely as my skills would allow. I know it was somewhat of a failure, but I'm glad I gave it a go since he's my fav character.

- I thought about making smoke short-circuit, but that would require using easy photoshop effects that would make the whole scene look cluttered and draw the eye away from the bg. I weighed up the options and this was what I went for, so I completely understand where you're coming from!

- Yes the smoke should be a different colour. Probably grittier and browish. Bad move on my part.

Haha no one is. But when you love a character as much as I love Rain you'll push the limits of your own skill for them =P. I'm glad you like the bg.
