About Me

Having defeated her opponents, CaTigeReptile was granted full access to the sorcerer's cookbooks. There, she succeeded in discovering the sequence of ingredients necessary to satisfy her hunger with delicious results. Have a nice day.

It looks amazing. I'd love to see Reptile like that in MK8.

But sadly, he's back to his humanoid form.

5/5.

It looks like some of it was done in paint. Only the tree though. But the rest of the pic is awesome! Nice job, 4.5/5.

Looks real nice. I'd love to see him like that in upcoming games.

Only problem I have is that for some reason, his head doesn't seem very menacing. Maybe make him spikier or add some more teeth. But I do have to admit, I like the fact that you changed his head's shape from MKDA. Those games he kinda looked like an iguana, not very menacing. His head in your pic looks suitably more predatory.

Other than that stylistic problem, I think it's perfect. 5/5.

The reptile kinda looks like The Lizard from the Spider-man animated series.
Looks good but the tree needs to be fixed. I like this look better than MKDA.
3.5/5

About Me

I'm a little bit mean, and I'm a little bit blonde. I'm a little bit testy, so lets get it on!

This is deffinately an awesome piece, and I'm glad you asked if I'd seen it yet! And I'm also glad I'm not the one standing infront of him, with the way it looks like he's srsly PMSing. Reminds me of me when I actually PMS, so I'm afraid. Very afraid.

Though I have a question for, whoever it was that commented about the tree and paint (yes, I suffer from long and short term memory loss XD). Is paint a bad thing? oooh... actually, that gave me an idea... my next project may be done all in paint, then moved to PS7 to do the blending and such... Thanks for the.. uhm.. subliminal messaging... of sorts... yeah XD

Thoroughly oozing awesome!

Generally I do prefer the scale MKDA model for a Reptile devolved to this point, and yet, the smooth repto-humanoid you've done almost seems more in-keeping with the Mortal Kombat sketch style.
I couldn't say why, but it reminds me of early Reptile.

Unfortunately I have very little of value to offer, other than - Great stuff! grin
pretty satisfying critis claim best reptile picture sence mine in 2004furious

First things first, how this gets a 4.5 and other stuff out here gets 3.5s and lower really baffles me. I've got nothing against the artist or the picture itself, but this really isn't near perfect quality.

Now for the critique

You did manage to get a good pose like you wanted, but it just isn't menacing enough. The lack of expression in the face makes it look more like Reptile is cringing away from an attack rather than ready to strike.

The outfit is really fitting for Reptile in this form as well, though the musculature needs quite a bit of work to appear more natural and less like a bunch of dark green lines on neon paint.

The pencil lines really need to be erased, and more colors used in the shading process to give a more whole feeling. It looks kind of like a mix-mash of an attempt at a vector with the sketch lines still visible over top of it and some MS Paint spray can effects on the trees. All of this causes too much interference with the rest of the image and detracts from the overall grace this piece had the potential of posessing.

The lines on the trees are too smooth. I realise you want to give them the appearance of being alive, but you've gone past that and given them animal characteristics. They branches and roots look more like tenticles than limbs. The lack of proper texturing and lighting doens't help either.

Somewhere on Reptile we should see some shadows. If the light is coming from the top front as it appears to be, his legs and definately his chest should be shrouded in darkness to give him a more substantial existance within the painting. There should also be some shadows cast upon the grass from the trees and Reptile as well. If you were going for an effect of the whole area being covered in shadow by the canopy of the Living Forest, then you need to tone down the brightness of your colors to make them more appropriate.

Overall a 3/5

You've got some obvious talent inside, just remember to keep practicing and nurturing it so it'll make it's way to the surface grin

Kano: Thanks. Since I'm kind of new at coloring, I appreciate your in-depth critique. I kind of really wanted to start and finish a piece in one day, and contrary to popular belief I actually did the trees with a sponge-shaped paintbrush in photoshop. Ah well, my fault. Maybe I'll fix it later.

And thanks, guys!
Try and shade with color or gray scale the way you would with a pencil.

Dark to light with several shades.

Practice painting without having pencil lines at the end to keep the shape recognizable.
