Let me be the first to say that this is a very cool pic... Nice job on everything...

OK... Here's a couple of things to look at... Shading... Lighting... Edges... I vote 4 out of 5 because of that... But very good job...

yeah- I think I screwed up the pic before I sent it- I darkened the whole thing so it wasnt so bright and it borked all my highlights on the black clothing ... ps-please be more specific as to the issues you mentioned "Shading... Lighting... Edges" - and about the edges? I could have softened all the edges but I thought that wouldve cheesed it. Suggestions are very welcome. Since this is my first MK computer "painting" I want to get better at it. :)

HOLY SHIT. That picture fucking kicks ass!! It looks perfect. I can't see anything wrong with it at all. I give it a 5.

Yes very nice indeed. Good details with the veins, and with the cracks in the skull. His suit is very well done as well, but like someone said you should think about shading and such, though that blur effect helps out alot. His spear looks like it was shaded slightly though, excellent drawing.

thanks everyone for your comments and feedback- but once again- please be more specific with your suggestions- ie. shading- what exactly in respect to this is lacking? Please give an example of what you mean. Is it that I shaded it more like a sprite then a projected light sourced 3d rendering/real life still? If so- thats not how this "painting" is supposed to be.
thanks again.

Alright, well the suit is what I was talking about really. There should be some sort of darkening effect between each of those rises, I know there is a little color difference, but it would have been better if it was just slightly darker there. As I said, the spear was quite nicely done, except at the back it, its a little too bright and should be somewhat darker. The skull and all of the arm structures look great the way they are though. This is also more like... a 3D render right? So really, if thats what this is, it needs none of that really. The lines in the suit are the only things that I would try and get a little darker.

ok thanks- it was more defined at first but I had to retouch the "quilting" up after an accidental compressing of the image in the middle of everything- I guess I left them too softened - I will fix that when i get home. thanks.

I'm at work so I've been busy... You're absolutely right about the pic... If you weren't going for a 3d render than no, don’t make it be 3-D... I would only touch up (blend) his edges... I don't think it would cheese it up at all. In fact, it would make the whole pic more unified... The problem is that the background still has a very visible and strong sense of 3-D so it probably won't work well unless you change the background. If you wanted to keep the background, I would recommend (my opinion) that you develop the 3-D by picking a source of light... I would think that the hardest part of shading in this picture is the pattern of his outfit so keep that source of light and add shading for his skull on his right side (our left side) along with the arms and outfit, making sure that the shadow is on HIS right side and that it corresponds to the lighting source of his clothes’ pattern... Also, HIS right armpit should have a darker shadow Adding shadow on the back of his arms would also limit the amount of blurring needed to make the picture come together...

Like I said, if this is not what you want, then I would definitely change the background to compliment Scorp... And if you don’t want to do that, that is cool too Remember art is what the artist desires, so make it what you want; popular/good/masterpiece art is what the audience likes... You have to pick which you want to have or what changes you can make, that will let you have both... It sounds like you’ve gotten approval from the audience already; the only thing left now (my opinion) is to improve your technique

Actually I just think it's really cool that you used the UnrealEd software for a rendered background. It's blurred so much that I can't fairly critisize it but still, great use of readily available tools. Scorpion with his flaming head would've been cool but that's not really a critique.

Look's like when you resized the picture that it didn't anti-alias it very well, I can see alot of stair stepping especially around the arms. If you're using layers (looks like you are) simple blur lightly around the edges to clean it up. That might be what the others where referring to.

Like mentioned before, all the highlights on the black material are washed out but you already addressed that.

One thing I really think needs to be added are shadows unless you purposfully left them out. I can see no clear direction where a light source might be originating from. Add shadows to areas like: under the arms, where the rope crosses over, where the head casts a shadow on the shoulder, clothing etc. Of course where it matches your lighting.

Lastly for a really cool effect, you've got his mouth and eyes lit with fire right? Add some tones to the shoulder there to simulate a fire in his mouth and eyes. Some yellows and reds. That would really cap it off well.

A very nice picture overall

Rem... Thanx for clarifying that info... I hardly work with PC paint/imaging programs so... It helps to get that type of stuff clarified by someone that knows proper terminology...

I like it. smile

The only things that I think could have been done to make it even better is less blurring on the background for one(it would have actually set the pic off more if there were some visible detailing there), and more work done on the Skull. It seems almost too white.

Overall though, it's great stuff! I like the lighting effects on his Gi and beltline, it really makes the pic stand out. The detailing on his musculature is well done too.

whoa thats awesome, expecially on the detailing I like it a lot. I kinda agree w/ all the things that Jonin01 mention I could tell you took your time and you didn't rush yourself. But I think some shadow Priest are missing just like in the actual game.

YEah, that revision looks a lot nicer, the background isn't so blurred anymore and the skull has a bit of darkness and a worn look to it. Great stuff, hope to see more! smile

Ohhhhhh.....This is good,
The blurring of the background was actually a good idea. because now it just looks more realistic (when something is three dimansional your eyes focus on what is in front of you) So it's less of a flat picture. 5/5

You already know I love it, but I came in to check out the original version. The progression from the first to second version is just phenominal.
