Hahaha, I like this concept. The idea of Shao Kahn in deep depression after his empire is left in ruin is very inspirational. I would show you my concept of Shao Kahn, but Im told to leave everything related to the Scorpion comic under wraps. Nice pic.

The once mighty Shao Kahn has fallen quite far.

His arrival in the Netherealm was not pleasant. Unlike Scorpion, who was an unknown assassin, every oni, spector, and abomination was waiting for the former Emperor. Without his legions of Shokan or Centaur, they repaid his brutality ten-fold. He faught fiercly but in the end even he could not withstand the thousands and thousands who now came to wish him well.

That first month was long and hard, the months that followed were not much better. Because of that Khan is now a broken man. Scorpion was and is fueled by revenge; Khan has nothing to live for. No kingdom, no family, no power, and hatred from multiple realms. Anywhere he travels he is a marked man who is instantly recognized. The only thing left for him is a new pledge:

To try and right the wrongs he has wrought for so many centuries to make some restitution for the past...

And of course to find the two responsible for his current situation and PERSONALLY thank them. Perhaps there is a little revenge in his tank after all.

Great story and nicely written.

My Bio for Shao Kahn is the complete opposite in the comic. Scorpion finds himself in an unknown region of hell. He is then suprised and attacked by demons. Scorpion mutilates the demons but then is disrupted by Shao Kahn. Kahn is now a lengthy giant with a new mask. After arriving in the netherealm, Kahn relentlessly killed every demon that stood in his way. Over a million warriors and demons with a vendetta against Shao Kahn challenged and lost against Kahn. Kahn then easily took hold of hell and claims it as his new empire. Recruiting the strongest of dead warriors, Kahn is building his new army to take revenge upon those who betrayed him. The furnis in his head is fueled with anger and revenge. He quickly recruits Scorpion because they both need each others help. Scorpion needs Kahn to get out of this new hell and Kahn needs Scorpion to kill Shang and Quan to get his revenge. There souls will then come to hell so Kahn can begin his torment.

the picture itself is ok, the scars could use a little work, and the pose seems to be a little "uncomfortable" to me, but the thing that really jumps out to me on this is the coloring it is amazing, i especially like how you added the shadow, the muscle aain seem perfectly shaded.

Why care about people if they're not bloody and on your carpet right now?

Damn, both the concepts for Shao Kahn which were shot out easily screw over anything I could have thought up...

Nice job Rameir and Suit...

That's awesome. The stories are almost completely opposite, like alternate realities. I had actually been banging around a Kahn concept for awhile but when I heard you mention Scorpion meeting him everything clicked in my head. "What did happen to him when he reached Hell?" Thanks for the inspiration.

SandSpider:
Thanks and I agree with you. I first drew the broken arm only as a concept to see what it looked like. It came out pretty good and I'm in this mood of, "Quit screwin around and draw!" so I went with it. I guess the pic was fouled from the beginning as the position is "uncomfortable" wink.

Gororules:
Thanks, that was the goal.

Marcel:
Well, what can I say. After all of his armour was stolen, clothing was slim pickins in the Netherrealm. wink

Axe:
Thanks

Really my whole story draws from him as a game character. Since the Dragon King is probably going to be the next boss how would Kahn fit into it. He's always been way too powerful to be a player character so I crippled him. His injured legs will slow him down and his broken arm weakens him but he'd still be as strong or stronger than Jax or Hsu Hao. Last I gave him a vagrant weapon. Just some trash metal he bundled together to make a club. After that he'd be a neutral character like Scorpion because the good guys sure don't want him and he no longer wants to be evil.

You know me, I always try to deviate from the normal stereotypes.

This is very nice, probably one of my favorite Shao Kahn drawings in quite a while. I especially like the story, to me it gives new life to a character that had been becoming tired, boring, and quite predictable in his actions. You supplied him with a very nice storyline that seems to just breathe new life into him for me. As a few have said, you can defiantely feel the emotion in this drawing. You can sense the pain, frustration, and anger within Kahn's exterior.

The drawing itself is pretty nice, the pose seems pretty good other than his right leg. I suppose in the position it is in, it seems not to match the rest of the body. I would have liked to see it placed a bit further away from the stone he is sitting on. But other than that, I love this pose. The way you have his right arm in a homemade sling is nice, the details on the sling itself are great. His left arm is positioned good too, it seems like Kahn is mulling over something. The head looks cool, the spikes were well drawn on it, and it seems to fit well on his shoulders.

I actually like his clothing, and his weapon. A once proud emperor forced to wear such primitive clothing fits well with the given storyline. I must say the foot that has a shoe is interesting, I found it to be odd foorwear for Kahn, but that's not a bad thing really, this is a character who needed refreshing. Also the weapon is very nice looking, its drawn well and I like the idea of it. Again, someone who is accustomed to fancy and powerful weapons being forced to use a primitive selfmade club is a great idea.

I do feel the scars could be somewhat better, but the idea of it is good. They are a bit too cluttered on his right arm I think. But they look fairly well drawn aside from that. As for the coloring, it looks basically flawless. The use of shading is wonderful, and the colors transition perfectly. The shadows you added were also I nice touch I feel. This concept actually made me care about a character I had nearly loathed for his vague personality in the past, great job.

Dang man. That's awesome. You captured the emotion perfectly (of how depressed Shao Kahm is now).

You pretty much nailed every idea I was going for. The one thing I didn't do that I planned was bruises and caked in dirt. I couldn't get it to look right and in my mind I was "done".

Since you mentioned the shoe I'll go ahead and tell you. That's my shoe. I was trying to come up with some beat up old clothing for him and I hate drawing feet. My ratty old Kung Fu shoe was laying on the floor and, eureka, Kahn has footwear. Funny what can inspire you. Only thing missing from mine is a hole in the toe. wink

All:
Thanks everyone, this has been very encouraging. After Bleed had givin me some good critisism (truth) that I finally listened to, I went back to the drawing board literally and have been practising anatomy ever since. Some of y'all may remember I was working on a Kitana pic a while back. I got so sick of that drawing I junked it and just started learning again. This pic was finished in about 20 hours of actual work. The Kitana pic was going on 5 months (shudder).

I may have to try this again.
