Shinnok Fake - My Kontest Entry

Well, I'm going to assume the original one week voting period is over with. Not that I have a shot at winning anyway, so I'll go ahead and "reveal" my entry as illusion did.
I suppose I should be thanking him for saying my sprite editing has gotten so good that you think it's a scaled down VS bust.
But let's make one thing clear. It's not. While I'm flattered he thinks it is, at the same time I'm offended by his presumption. It's times like these I'm glad I saved my fake's progress while showing them to VenoMark for critique. I'll take this opportunity to thank the master of fakes for lending his help. Now I just wish I had saved every 15 minutes rather than every few hours.
BUT anyway, let's take a good look at the evolution of my Shinnok sprite. As with all of my Shinnok sprites in the past, Shang Tsung has always been my base / starting point. As you can see in the following old fakes of mine:
Shinnok vs Quan Chi
Shinnok Commands Saibot
Now let's see how I actually created my Shinnok sprite. And yes, his VS pose was my reference image. I'd be amazed to find an artist who doesn't use a reference image; whether it's a mental image or not.
Now let's see what an actual re-sized VS bust woud look like.
Are the very similar? Yes. I mean... no shit, it's what I based the sprite off of. I guess cutting and pasting sprites from in-game screen shots is more respected around here or what? I'll go down that path if that's what you all like...
Last but not least: This is what my konest entry was going to be, had I not finished my Shinnok sprite in time... a sort of "back up" plan if you will.
This is indeed an "updated version" of my original Jax vs Shang Tsung fake that I posted a while back with my other unfinished fakes.
Shinnok was performing some kind of voodoo magic on a Jax doll. The idea sucked so it only motivated me more to finish Shinnok.

shinnok sprite is not bad the effects on his hands are cool, but the sprite itself you can tell its a scaled down vs bust,i really like the gore that was added to jax very cool how you layered meats face on it and added some nice guts/gore on the split, the figure in the chair is a nice touch as well, but the stage otherwise just seems kinda plan

Wow!! Shinnok in the commands noob saibot is the best!!! How long ago did u make that???
I really loved ur stage. Even more so than ur original shang vs jax fake. That's saying a lot cuz I luved ur new version of the waterfront/street stage. it actually inspired my stage for the kontest
I think the voodoo idea was a bit silly especially cuz its just green effects around the doll and not much happening to explain why jax is dying. At least with shinnok we can figure out its cuz he's a god and can tear shit up!
I think ur sprite edit looks a lot better than the resized verses picture. I can't believe or imagine how long that must have taken. And why were u showing veno ur stuff he was the competion LOL!!!!
I'm gonna go finish my fake today I hope. That's if I'm not stuck in the library til midnight

It's a great Shinnok sprite but why didn't you create your own pose? I'd like to see you create a totally unique frame without any source material. This limitation makes it look like an Ermac fatality. Also, why wasn't Jax customized? You have a cartoony vs realistic style here which doesn't mesh all that well. It's a good try but nothing really stands out for that wow factor.

Gee I dunno? Maybe because I'm artistically declined? Literally.
That being said, it's a miracle that I can even make a fake picture.
And what's stopping you from taking your own advice???

That is an awesome move. The 3d style sprites are well drawn. Not everyone chooses to do MK1-3/U3/T, "real" images.
Various artists have their own styles, some more cartoony than others. The fact that they're hand drawn/edited, not stock images means their skill surpasses our regular MK spriters. K1LLKANO is an outstanding artist ion the hand drawn field.
There's even a MUGEN MK game thats all hand drawn anime sprites, completely original, full sprite sets. MK's fanbase is chock full of krazy talented artists each working in their own medium. Instead of fighting, we can step back and admire the patchwork tapestry we all weave.

And here I was thinking that it was a smaller scale render with editing but you reminded everyone what makes you an elite artist for years. Awesome work like always man.
