"He's changed, and I don't like it. You. Have you ever seen a man fall from himself?"
"Mmmmph."
"Oh, sorry."
Sonya Blade stands above the gash covered body of her opponent. She removes her leg from the man's neck and allows him to remove his head from its own pool of blood. With a blunt kick, he turns on his back.
Pain rushing through his body, especially his head, he groans before he speaks.
"Bitch. I don't have time for your..."
A soft kick to his head interrupts him.
"Oh, my humblest apologies. I'll send you on your way."
Two black boots are the last things Jarek would ever see.

One month has passed since Sonya had seen her partner, Jackson Briggs.

A dark orange hue drowned the skies above Jax. He had come here to fulfill a duty to his country, and his world.
Reports of the traitor pinned him hiding somewhere in these mountains, and Jax was determined to finish this.
The trail led him to a deep, menacing ravine. There had been remnants of campfires for the last twenty miles, and he knew he was getting warmer.
There were two paths. One would involve a treacherous climb down the steep, rocky ravine, and the other beyond the looming mountains. Jax found himself decending into deep thought.

-Kabal had many people convinced he wanted to change. That he had changed. Once a former Black Dragon member, Kabal had approached Jax after Shao Kahn's invasion had been thwarted, and made a plea.
He had been attacked by the emperor of whom his clan had sworn allegience with. He had been betrayed by his clan, and was consequently left to die. Now fully dependent on his life support system, he tells Jax he's eager to exact revenge on the Special Force's enemy.
Jax had never fully trusted Kabal. No one with ties to the Black Dragon could change, and that was that. But an ally in their fight couldn't be dismissed immediately.
But Jax was right, as it turned out. The Black Dragon had no real intent to betray their own. They needed a plant.
Many people died as a result of Kabal's betrayal.
He was instrumental in locating addresses of Special Force members, sending his clan to kill officers one by one. By the time anything could be done, the Special Forces were decimated in numbers.-

Rage bubbled up in Jax as his memories became fresh. Nothing mattered at this point anymore. The Earthrealm had its champions. He wanted nothing to do with gods or sorcerors or spectres.
*crack*

There was no thought in that instant, just reaction. Jax found his fist sticking out of this bleeding torso. The torso of a Special Forces member.

to be continued.

I'd like to read more of this once you get around to continuing. I'm a bit confused about the title, as you focus more on Jax than Sonya in this portion, but I guess this will be explained later on. It's very descriptive, which I like a lot, because you're not writing too much to the point that it bores, but enough to make me see his surroundings. I would've preferred it if he didn't punch that Special Forces member without having more of a reaction to it afterwards, or perhaps how it felt to be putting one's fist through a human body (including the graphic details of the anatomy).
So far, so good, keep it up!
