Okay because some people asked for it and because I have been seeing some poorly done fakes recently, I made this.

1. Get an idea. Every fake starts off with a good idea. And make sure its never been done before. To do this, just search your idea in the MKO search bar.

Things that you should never do:

* Pissalities* Sexalities* These are the most annoying things ever. They are not funny and usually are very bad fakes. Along with fart jokes.

2. Sprites. The best place to get sprites is The Mortal Kombat Warehouse, which has almost every sprite from all the 2-D games. There is a link to it right on this page.

3. Starting off. The first thing you should do is get a background arena. At MKW they have every single arena, along with animated arenas. If you can't find what your looking for Maggo's Animation Thread has some arenas and animations that MKW doesn't have.

Now once you have an arena, save it and import it in to whatever program you are using, I am using paint.

Example

Then get your props, which include names, lifebars, timers, and win tokens or whatever you wanna call them.

Example

4. Placement.

To know where to put stuff, use a screenshot. Just go to MKW, and look at the screenshot section to find out where everything is placed.

Example

You may notice that messed up Raiden sprite. We'll get to that later.

5. Fighters.
When adding the fighters, make sure it goes along with the idea. If Sub-Zero is gonna shoot an iceball, put him in the ice ball shooting posistion.

Example

You can see that Scorpion is frozen, and from Sub-Zeros stance you can tell that he just shot an ice ball and Scorpion and froze him. You can see that the Scorpion frozen sprite is messed up, just like that raiden in the last example.

6. Sprite editing.
Now your all done and everything is in place, so your ready to put it on MKO right? Wrong.

What we just did is called a copy and paste job, which is frowned upon around here. We need to make it look flashy, edit the sprites, and better to look at. The thing we just made downright sucks! But with alittle editing, this trash can be turned into a masterpiece.

Now depending on what you plan on using for editing, this process will be different. Keep in mind that I don't use Photoshop, or GIMP. So if you plan on editing your sprites in those, you might wanna check another tutorial, but we'll be doing the basic same thing, so don't leave yet!

I am using a program called "Photo Impression 6". This is a program that came with my printer, so don't ask me where to download it.

Example

Heres what we start out with. Nothing much to look at. But when we're done it'll be awesome. Now first, we start off by fixing the Scorpion Sprite. How do we do this? Well, in this program there is a tool that copies a sprite basically, and will fix a sprite for you. This is called the "Clone" brush, which is the highlighted brush in the example.

What we do, is zoom in on the picture, hold Shift, and click. Now you have copied the sprite! If you click anywhere else you will notice that parts of the sprite and everything around it will be where you click. So we click the frozen parts and we paint on the missing parts.

Painting is done!

And in less the 5 minutes, we can make that Scorpion sprite look good as new! And for alittle extra flare, you can go to the paint brush, click white, put the transparency up, and paint a small layer of transparent white to look like the ice is glowing. Not too much though, or it'll just look sloppy.

Now that we're done with that....what do we do? Everything looks done, the Scorpion sprite is fixed. What else could we possibly do? You decide! We could make the tree in the back have a smiley face if we wanted! We could add more effect by making Sub-Zero have ice hands. Give Sub-Zero a little scar down his eye. We could add shadows!

Then when you think your done, crop the picture and save it as a PNG. Never save it as a JPEG or a GIF, it lowers the quality and all your hard work will look bad.

And the finished product....

Now your done. You can post it on MKO or anywhere else now!

I hope this tutorial helped. If theres anything I did not cover, just PM and I'll try to cover it as best as I can.

Well, I commend you on actually attempting a tutorial such as this.

I've tried in the past, but I never could break it down simple enough. My style of doing things requires actual artistic/drawing/physics/etc knowledge.

Kudos.
