The Ultimate Mortal Kombat Fake Tournament (ROUND 1,2,3 scores)
Round 1 wrapped up on July 20th, the scores are finally calculated and ready to go. Sorry for the delay it has been a heat wave in my area, we only get it once in a while. So, here are the 1st round scores.
Ok cut and paste job here. There is not much to say for the fact you took differnt then MK characters and stuck them into an MK arena. For the next round try to use some effect. For now though,
4/10
Nice effects, good fight scenerio, and very creative. For this round,
9/10
The kiss of doom. The kiss of death. The kiss of....oh ya. So this fake, Very well done background, very well done life bars and actually correct. Everything seems to be correct. So with out further ado,
9/10
To tell you the truth... I actually like this. It shows good creative skills, that is if you really did edit these characters. I like it enough to give you a,
8/10
Wow, Raiden's got issues. I like this one. I think it would have been better if it was a fatality situation though. To make it like that you need to darken things. But very good effects. You deserve a,
8/10
Im sorry but there is nothing to spectacular here. You did a little bit of an edit on Shang Tsung but not much. The life bars are custom? but they dont have enough definition, they're off center and the names are in wrong. The stage, well it has a few things that are just out of place. So...
2/10
I have extended the deadline of round 2 until July 26th at 11:59 PM, however if you send it by the real deadline there will be a +1 modifier added to your score.
Also, no one has been kicked yet as there were fewer entrents then sign ups.

I'm not sure to understand how you calculate the scores. Do I get to vote or do I have to score every single fake? Anyways the only "really edited fake" is Keith's one and Li'mei Vs Cyrax. keith's one is far superior compare to the others even if a little too cartoony for my taste. The rest is mostly cut and paste

Yeah, Keith's is awesome.
Although Onaga's army looks like a bunch of mini-Hsu Hao's.

I also thought the voting would be like how MaxDam said with us just voting on which is the best. Totally confused me...lol.

That would be kind of silly using someone elses sprites for a Fake Tournament, don't you think?
Yeah, I used MK3 Kitana, MK3 Sheeva, MK2 Liu Kang, MK3 Sindel, and MK2 Mileena for the Li Mei Sprite. I'm pretty sure you can figure out what was used for the Cyrax sprite.
The second entry is, as is the norm for images plastered with the inept use of pre-rendered effects and graphics, excessively overrated. Should some actual hand-forged editing have gone into something other than the horribly constructed background (a slightly original idea, but terribly executed), the rating would be a more realistic 5/10, at least. If the guy behind this is who I believe he is, then he still has yet to impress any of the veterans. I respect him as an animator, but even he's passed his prime in that category.
Anyway, whoever in Hell was responsible for the acceptance of 3D models into a 2D environment should be shunned from the industry. This "style" is probably the laziest effort any man who claims he's worthy of the title as an artist could ever venture into. It's just lazy, and requires no skill. Cut out a render or in-game model. Shrink it. Paste it. No effort or artistic aptitude required.
The background, although an original idea, as I've stated previously, had its originality disrupted tremendously by albeit clumsy execution. The sprites in the deep background have no depth. The fatality or match-ending weapon attack being performed there assume no originality. The bright red portal doesn't provide any balance between colors with the whole image pallette.
In short, there is no harmony between anything. 3D images do not complement 2D settings. Realistic special effects do not fit in with such an unrealistic locale. In my eyes, this one should receive no more than a 3/10. Shoddy, cheap work.
-------------
The third entry, being the work of one of the most promising fake picture artists, is the only entrant worthy of notable praise that dominates stark critcism.
While editing on Sonya is clearly cartoony, the background as a whole in addition to the somewhat impressive work put into Kitana, more than make up for it. Kitana's legs are in an awkward position (more her leg on the fore, probably an issue with the positioning of that foot), but the extraordinary detail implemented into her stance as a whole upset any nitpicking I may have.
The biggest issue I have with this image is the horrible detail put into Onaga's army. Their bland brown color causes them to merge with the gray of the wall situated behind them, and I had to lean in a bit just to make out any real detail. Also, they have no 3D depth. This doesn't mean you have to seek out 3D models of the army and shrink them in the habit of the previous applicant, but just add some shading and highlighting here and there. If it's any help, I'd lighten the right shoulder (left, from our vantage point), portions of his chest (more toward the center), and the right side of the conical hat (again, our left) of each sprite. Any other complaints would include the amulet not being rounded off at the top. I have no clue how something this noticeable could've been overlooked, but...yeah. As for the rating, a very respectable 7/10. Keep at it, and work on the realism of your sprites. You're getting up fast.
Obviously, this one's my selection. Not one of the other entries, outside of these two, were worthy of criticism. Cut yourselves out of the business, or seek out the tutelage of someone at a higher level. if they (or I) see potential in you, then they (or I) will provide a few of their (or my) tips.
-------------
Only one of these entries, being the third image, is deserving of the praise it has received. Why?--All the others required virtually no creativity whatsoever The host for this competiton is as naive a critic as they may ever come. Don't be influenced by his asinine scoring selections.
Ekule, I suggest you relinquish your hosting status, or resort to making use of a better rating technique. You clearly have no idea what you're doing, and the usual rating system implemented by contest hosts (Mobster4Christ, namely) has clearly been the way to go. You're laughingly leniant, and you bear the semblence of a, and forgive me for using such a classless term, newbie, impressing the untalented with value that doesn't exist. You're an insulting critic, and an embarrassing host. Good day.

Oh, VenoMark. My hero <3
This is the first round, I was being rather lenient on purpose. I wasnt going to make any big crtiques. If you dont agree with me Venomark, piss off. This is my tournament, i am the host and no one else. I have said if you PM me your scores then I would start averaging them to my score, you obviously didnt see or like what I said. So I have some advice for you...
Either realise I dont care unless you PM me your scores per fake, or get glasses and read what i wrote over and over until it sinks into your head.
Have a nice day and save up for them glasses....

Once again, I LOL at this "tournament". The way you are running this thing is completely absurd. Having to PM our scores to you just so you can average them is just ,for lack of better word, retarded. I can only hope the fakes improve in quality next round and not the opposite.

now really how the hell did the 2end one get 9/10?

Sorry, 3D renders on a 2D background, a decent and slightly REALISTIC fake does not make.

Why be leniant in the first round and discriminate against the second rounders? If your method of scoring is as leniant as it is now, then one can only assume that the only way the scores would drop in the next round is for the sole reason that you're using the averaged scores from this round. Logic tells you that much, and if the scores differ from this round in the subsequent round, then you clearly need glasses.
I refuse to, as you said, "piss off." My stay here has been rocky, and dim-witted lasses who've come to cross me have found their way out of here in an unmitigated hurry.
Yes, it's your tournament. I read everything in your initial post, which is why I went into as explicit a detail as I had. Your scoring system is ridiculously dim. If the public rating appeals to a critic, then why limit one to keeping one's score hidden? You know my rating. You know very well that I'm too stubborn to convert under your brainless stabs at ridicule.
You've received multiple complaints now. Users obviously agree with me, and not you. Something gives the impression of being out of place here... Oh yeah, a veteran of the art and a formerly active contestant in such games as these is being shunned by a guy with barely enough of a reputation to spur the production of impressive entries. Yeah, I guess I'm way off base for criticizing your deliberately asinine hosting technique.
Keep playing tug-of-war with my genitalia. I just may eventually take a liking to the idea of a light exchange of words between the pair of us. As with prior antagonists in such affairs, I will verbally broaden the already-cavernous pit between your legs, milady, and give your violated carcass a feeling of necrophilia like the world has never seen. PM me if you'd like your thread to remain ravaged and raped with only a minute litter of your lady parts strewn about.
Have a wonderful night.
