I have often wondered this too, and where did the sprite comic come from?

As some may know, 'Fred' was the first fake maker, and he was VERY impressive, as he blended all elements together, and they work perfectly. Then, several others emerged, some good, some downright awful. Examples of well known 'good' fakers are blacksaibot (balcksiaboot), VenoMark and FatSatan.

MK Fake Pics were intentionally made to fool MK fans. But nowadays style of fake pic making has changed a lot for the better and for the worse. The first people that started doing fakes were the old school people like Minus_Zero, FatSatan, and Fred. The sad thing is so many fake pic artists have retire. Luckily I have seen some very good fake pic makers that are willing to take their place. smile. People like MKRocket, VenoMark, MaxDam, Blacksaibot and so on.

I remember GamePro's MKII strategy guide having fake pics in it like:
  • Sub-Zero's Polar Bear Animality (cartoony looking...but better than MK3)
  • Red Robin, their name for what we'd later call Ermac
  • Kano Transformations
  • Fighting Goro in Goro's Lair

I also remember "GamePlayers Magazine" having a fake MK2 character select screen with pics of the editors in it, instead of some of the normal Kombatants.

Lastly, we all know of the very famous Nimbus Terrafaux and Ermac pics from EGM.

I'm sure these were all out before Fred's site made fake MK pics really popular.
