The Pac Man one is funny. The Nitara one is awesome, but I'm going with image 7. That's some brutal shit. So yeah.

I'm going to have to go with #3.
Image #1 looks fantastic, definitely the smoothest of them all, but that same smoothness kind of conflicts with the illusion. Meaning, the sprites are so polished, that it leaves a more photoshop look to it.
That's what ultimately made my decision to go with #3. It looks the most complete, as in, the most all around fitting. The Deadly Alliance lifebars kind of detract from it, because they are taken from a 3D game and used as if they were 2D, but the way the background was done to re-create the acid bath in 2D form, more than makes up for it.
It was a close call between the two, but yeah, gonna go with #3.
Great job to everyone though. The Jade one looked solid, Pac Man's was funny, Ermac's was a nice concept, and the other 4 were creative. So props to everyone. Keep at it!

Huh. I haven't seen a contest like this in awhile on MKO. Perhaps I'll enter in the next one I see.
As for my vote, #1 gets it. Obviously the better of the bunch. The sprites are clearer, the background isn't as cluttered as some of the entries, and it's a neat idea for a Fatality. In addition, the choice of choosing MK to win over SF is obviously a plus, and the little detail at the top of the lifebars that list the wins is a neat detail.
Blood looks nice, too.
My only complaint are the shadows. The portal guard's shadow looks... Off. Also, Scorp's shadow seems to be unexplainably darker than Ryu's.
Oh, and the BG should be darkened during a Fatality.
Other than my tiny nitpicks, I love it. Great job entrant #1. You get my vote.

I vote #7. It looks the most "real" to me, I guess.
#1 was really striking too, but I kinda agree with blackcyborg that it looks too polished and photoshopped. That and the lowercase font used for the healthbar names bugs me.

Wow. Now I see what I've been missing. What inspiration you all give!
Now I have to start backgrounds, too, then. We'll compare that to my MONSTROUS Freddy. I still can't believe I submit that in the Forum...
But on the kompetition; after carefully looking at all of the amazing entries, I give my vote to Entry #1. It has superb editing, as well as a great and creative Fatality and stance. Ryu looks like he has the perfect blend of Sf and MK2 look, and the texture is outstanding.
Of course, all entries were great, and I love to see what creative things other people think of!

Wow! These are all amazing! I love them all!
I honestly don't have time to go through them all and comment. It was a tough choice, though, but I'm going to ultimately have to go with #1.

I use MS Paint. Considering I've given only one good- one decent- one not-bad sprite so far, with no backgrounds, I'll start practicing with Paint, m ol' buddy.
I did try using Paint Shop Pro on a school computer, but it just didn't feel right.
The only reason I haven't submit anything new yet is because they're all Fantasy Kharacters, like for this year's KaK Kontest.

My vote goes to #3. As for constructive input on the others:
#1: This is the only one without an "Achilles Heel," but these pics are getting graded on concept as well as execution. I think a different fatality choice would have gone far here. The torso fatality is a hard sell, IMO. Great presentation, though (and props on using The Tower, my favorite stage
)
#2: The clear 2nd place, IMO. My only two criticisms are that A) it's a bit cluttered. It took multiple glances to figure out what was happening within the pic, and B) I would have gone with a different stance for Ermac. It just isn't what comes to mind when I think of Ermac using offensive telekinesis. If he had been doing the Tele-slam pose from UMK3, that would have pushed this one to #1. Great stuff nonetheless.
#3: Nitara's face looks more "monster" than "vampire," but the characters, the stage, and the concept all mesh together beautifully. Good shit.
#4: Looks good, but the concept held this one back, IMO. It looks great, but I would have done something more ambitious with the background. Mad props on the fatality choice, though. Jade's MKD head/staff fatality is my third favorite fatality of all time.
#5: My only criticism is that I would have used a stage that compliments Pac Man better. Other than that, it's pretty awesome. LOVE the concept.
#6: I love the stage in this one. Seth is a great choice for this setup. Kenshi needs more details, though. The template is good, but the black areas seem too bare. The idea of a winter version of an MK1 stage is badass, though.
#7: I don't really have a criticism for this. It looks great, but it doesn't stimulate me the way #3 and #2 do. I wish I had more of a rationale here, but from a logical standpoint, you get an A+. The stage is freakin' sick.
#8: That human Cyrax looks amazing! My only criticism here is that Sweet Tooth seems like a strange foil for Cyrax here. I can see Cage bumping heads with Nukem; Sweet Tooth and Cyrax seem a bit more random. Nonetheless, great stuff.
#9: I love the character choices here. The stage looks pretty good, but like #1, I would have gone with another fatality choice. There are a lot of possibilities with Motaro that could have pushed this one to the top (I always thought a tail fatality would have been tight). Great stuff, though. Ivy needs more love.
Props to the entrants. I hope I judged fairly.

After long deliberation my official vote goes to 7. It's the only one that's a true fake and isn't cluttered with an overdose of fancy editing. It touches me in a way that Fred's MK site did so many years ago.
With that said, Entry 4 and 5 came in a tie for second place and entry 8 for third place.
I didn't want to my vote based on "who has more talent" because it would have just went straight to #1... and I am not trying to imply no one else had talent.

The Bahamut Zero summon happens in space.
Ermac's stance fits exactly with him sky surfing on a pile of rocks or a small asteroid, like Terra from Teen Titans. There's even an asteroid in the bg. The Crisis Cor version has asteroids, but dragon is different design.

I've edited my post with a link to each entry under the section in which the votes per entry have been tallied. I was going to do that from the outset, but it must have slipped my mind. Ah well; what's done is done.

That was a stellar competition guys. I was so surprised at the turnout, as well as the quality of the fakes.
Congrats Veno, it was pretty clear from the get-go that your fake was gonna take this out.
I held off commenting or voting 'cause I would've just voted for mine anyway.
Entry #1 (VenoMark): Flawless detail, professional work. The highlight for me is the shadow priest in the background.
Entry #2 (UltimateRyu): good sprite editing on the dragon
Entry #3 (blacksaibot): Love it. The editing everywhere is fantastic - Nitara, Sabrewulf, and the background. And it's MK:DA, so that gets extra points from me. Easily my favourite fake on here.
Entry #4 (saiZero): The T Hawk sprite is excellent. I was thinking about having him in my fake as well, but there's no way I could've done it as well as you. Great work.
Entry #5 (Kamionero): I'm glad someone did Pacman haha. Cool idea. And I really dig the background.
Entry #6 (S0nofKrypton): Good stuff for a Paint fake. And it's got Kenshi!
Entry #8 (Tetra_Vega): Great edit on the human Cyrax. As always, your capabilities with the humble Paint program astound me.
Entry #9 (mwgrant0): Definitely some potential here, especially on the background. Keep it up.

I only created the damage model for Bahamut Zero. The sprite itself is actually an in-game asset ripped from the game. Congrats to Veno even if his winning entry is slaughtering my avatar. It's just a damn good fake.
