I'de make a new thread for yours, so your not taking away from the creator. As for Sabu, Id'e lay off the green a bit and cut down the size of the open wounds.

Well, I'm an old spriter, and I hate to comment on people that don't take bad critiques well, so please don't be one of them, keep in mind, I'm only being honest.

Both of those sprites are just recolors with splotches of red on them. They don't have torn body parts or any of the other doodads that Liu Kang has. They don't look near good enough to put in any game. Chains look alright though.

Spriting must be developed over months, study the spriting style, the shading. Though Mortal Kombat sprites are really just JPEGs there is still some style to it.

Keep working though. I'm not gonna give you an official rating, but I'll just say what I would give. 2.7/10 for both.

....style.....

whatever, that was the first sprite ive ever done. and liu kang doesnt have any torn limbs in MKD as far as I can recall. i might be wrong though, ill play it and see. i couldnt find any pics of him on g00gle
Zombie liu is pail, almost gray.

He's not green, also they need some more detail like dirt.

(EDIT)

Here's my try at it.

I put some dirt all over him.
used a pretty thin chain.
added bruises cuts and blood stains all over.
Made a rip in his pants so you can see his leg throught it.
I put dirt and blood stains on the chains.
Made the chains shine a little more than normal in certain spots to make them look more 3D.
I bent the chains to make them look like they are wobbling.
Added a shadow

again, awesome job! but i only made it green because last time someone made a fatality fake with noob/smokeVSdead liu kang, you said Liu should be green (as far as i can remember).
Are you reffering to me???

If so, it was someone else that said that.

It wasn't me....

oh ok, i could easily make mine gray instead and probably add some dirt. but i dont know where to find any nice chains or how to make them rusty (unless you just painted a rusty color onto them).
Yeah, I just painted over them.

I used some special layer settings in Photoshop.

Like Overlay, soft light, Multiply.

If you have Photoshop, just experiment with the different layer styles and see which one works best for what you need.

I use the layer styles every time. They make things look much better.

Also set the layers to different opacity settings, so some things are more transparent than others. This is good for layering effects.

Like I layered 4 different colors for the cut on his chest.

dark red, darker red, red, brighter red.

To make the cut look 3D also I added some slight shades of blue and green around the cut to make it look a little bruised.

When I do little details like that I try to blend it in to the original pic, so it looks more realistic.

Like instead of using 1 shade of Red for blood, I used 4.

I blended the dirt and bruises in to his body also, so it's not just 1 tone of dirt brown and 1 tone of bruise green. I take2-3 shades of the same color , sometimes different colors and blend them in to the body. I use the air brush, the eraser and the smudge tool for that.

Also, he's not totally Gray. I put a layer of Gray above the normal sprite and put the opasity of the Gray layer to like 75%, so he's pail, but not totally Gray.
