it might be stupid but look: the winner of a Mortal Kombat Tournament is granted with immortality by the elder gods, to make sure that he represents the earth in the next tournament right? and in mk conquest raiden says to kung lao that by winning mortal kombat the elder gods will make that he woun't age a day until the next tournament comes. so, if Liu Kang won the first MK game, how is it possible that his air is longer in mk 2, mk3, mk4 and mk:da intro that it was in mk 1?? if being immortal is being forced not to age, how could his air grow??

being immortal dosn't mean not aging in Mortal Kombat. Look at Jade, Kitana, Sindel, Tanya, etc. Immortal just means you can't die of natural causes or old age, etc. But you can die if someone kills you.

well LiuKangFighter, kitana, jade, tanya and sindel are not immortal, they are edenian wich means that they live much longer than humans, but they are actually mortal. and in the first mk conquest episode, raiden exactly tells kung lao:
"the elder gods have granted that you will not age another day until the next tournament" after kung lao won mortal kombat.. this hair detail is just a little flaw in the perfect universe of mortal kombat, like this one: it is said that mortal kombat takes place once a generation, but if you count.. kung lao was defeated by goro 500 years ago, and since then there had been ten tournaments (counting after mk 1 end). but one generation is twenty years, and ten tournaments in 500 years makes mk to happen every 50 years... not a generation after all...

immortal doesn't means "you nails and your hair won't grow".

nails and hair growing makes part of getting old, becoming immortal means that your body becomes "frozen" to the effects that time passing should have on it. have you seen Interview with the Vampire? it is explained there. and another thing, at the last episodes of MK C, Taja's hair is much longer that it was at the begining, and in one of the episodes, i remember seeing Siro beeing shaved by a woman, while Kung Lao's hair is equal from the first episode to the last, such as his beard..

Kug lao is a monks, and a monk shave himself every morning.
and again wih immortality midway team means immortalit to oldness and ills. This doesn't means that you'll never get long hair only because are immortal

=) good thing then
The winner of the mortal kombat tournament NEVER becomes immortal. He or she becomes ageless. If they became immortal, it would be pretty hard to take the mk champion title away from them.
Yes, Liu Kang isn't supposed to age, therefore his hair shouldn't grow, but it's not that his hair grows, his design just changes. His forehead, his eyes, his cheeks, over the years have changed, and it's not because he aged, it's because his design was changed.
Look, it's just video game fucking magic, ok?

mortal kombat champion becomes immortal, but looses his or her immortality before entering the next tournament. the elder gods just grant him immortality in his life between tournaments, so that they make sure he can represent his realm in the next mk.

I always thought that it was strange that the tournaments happened once every generation. A generation is every 30-50 years. No one ages. Mortal, unmortal. I can imagine that since Kitana and Sindel are ageless, they would not age, but the humans would.

Well, Jax looks older, but thats it. Sonya and Johnny haven't aged a day. But I think Zentile summed this thread up.
