to close to Shang for anybody to care. Might as well just beef Shang up with souls and say that he's back and pissed. Ermac and Tsung are all the soul suckers MK needs.

I don't think there should be new characters, unless they're like Art Lean in part 1, or Lance in the Malibu comics. Small roles, basically as killable extras. The whole point of making a movie about MK is that it is based on the MK we all know, and takes all it's major characters from the games.

Most MK fans would probably hate an original new character taking a big role in the movie, especially if it was either too similar to, or put in instead of established fan favourites.
