This is complete and utter bullshit I can't believe they put that into the script. It makes Sonya look weak simply because she's a woman and it adds insult to her character.
You do remember that Liu Kang is the chosen one right? And only he can fight Shang Tsung, which is why he made sure that Cage didn't fight Shang after he wanted to. tonytrash Wrote:

Well, if you remember the game correctly, Mileena is watching her sister's every move. So basically, this is sort of that, but it was never really explained who she was or why she was there and why Sonya instead of Kitana. I mean, if someone who just saw this for the first time, never played Mortal Kombat, they would have absolutely no idea who the heck Mileena was in that movie, and they would ask the only question: "Why did Sonya ask if she was Kitana?" Except, she was evil in a way until you beat the game with her in UMK3, revealing that she is actually a good character instead of evil, and yes, her death in this movie was... You smell that? Bullshit.
