posted08/03/2015 11:51 PM (UTC)byThe_TooCool_MasterHave you guys calmed down about Takeda "beating" everyone? He got his ass handed to him, as I expected.
Do you think D'Vorah is talking about the Black Dragon?
It seems like Hanzo will finally beat and cleanse himself of the Hellfire. It was a nice little story for the comic but I'm fine if he destroys this part of him to come back to life considering he no longer seemed to possess that power in the game.

What was up with that ending, Hanzo is fighting Scorpion!? What realm is this?

I think he's in his own head. Revenant Scorpion talks about how he needs him and Hanzo says that wrestling with him(preventing him to come out) had him killed.
An internal struggle if you will. Hanzo will win, come back to life, and leave Scorpion and the Hellfire power behind. That's my theory. He probably kept the power for some reason and has decided that he can no longer live with it.

Good stuff.
I especially enjoyed more comic time with Kintaro & Sheeva.

Lame Wicker Man reference on aisle 5.
Honestly, I've already lost interest in what the conclusion holds because it's predictably boiling down to an overbooked Scorpion lovefest with a shitload of canon characters on the side. Boon must be beside himself with glee right now.
LOL at Havik just picking up his hand and putting it back into place. This Tom & Jerry shit really makes it impossible to take the violence seriously no matter how much the writers want us to.

Havik can snap his own neck without any problems. I don't see how him putting his hand back on is so ridiculous.

Hardly predictable when we were told that the comic would be about Scorpion.
Link.

I feel like the comics have done a much better job of establishing the main villiains of the story (Reiko and Havik) compared to MKX story mode. Shinnok disappears for most of it, his motivations are pretty trite (destroying the universe, killing everyone), and he makes some incredibly stupid choices to fit the plot. Havik and Reiko have been much more compelling and fleshed out, Havik even has a dark sense of humor. Both of their popularity levels have grown significantly since the comics.

Well, that's primarily because comic is much better medium for telling any kind of story than this poor story mode format that NRS is using. You can't really flesh out characters in something like that.
Concerning Shinnok, they obviously don't know how to handle someone with that kind of power in the story, and also antagonist of that kind (super-powerful eldrich entity) is most logical to be kept imprisoned untill total end of the story when it is unleashed and defeated/destroyed, otherwise it would destroy anything if it's given a bit more time .
Havik was awesome and will continue to be. I was really pissed how out of character he was handled at the beginning (generic villain), but now he is becomming more like himself so I calmed a bit). Reiko just became OK.
Although I think that those two don't have enough "weight" to be primary game villains, they are good enough antagonists for the comics .
Now after I have seen Reiko in redesigned outfit I'm adding next to Havik in "Want as DLC" list.

Getting these comics once a week definitely makes the story feel slower. We have 5 chapters left I really hope they're not going to rush the ending. Either way I'm happy with it overall. If they do make a second part to this like some said, I hope it's less focused on Scorpion. I like him, but it'd be nice to get more story on others. It was so satisfying to get some back story on Kotal, Johnny, Sonya, and Mileena we got to see Frost again and even Fujin. With so many characters in the mk universe it's so refreshing to see some of these guys get some recognition.
While it may be harder it is definitely possibly to do a good story using the chapter system. I personally thought mk9 did a great job with storytelling. While not everyone got a chapter, the characters that did were well emphasized imo. I learned more about Cyrax and took more interest in him in his one chapter in mk9 than I did for him in the 20 years before that. That's just one example. As for a powerful villain, Shao Kahn had the perfect balance of screentime and truely feels like a threat throughout the story while Shinnok was kinda just penciled in like they forgot that he was suppose to be the main villian in this game.

The difference is that Shinnok is more powerful than Shao Kahn. It was believable to see Kahn walk around and not fight. He's strong but a victory isn't assured. Shinnok plowed through Raiden, Fujin, Kenshi, Sonya and Cage. He's the strongest villain in the franchise aside from Blaze
His point was that you couldn't have Shinnok realistically being around and not destroying everything... and it's true. He was out of the Netherealm for 5 minutes and if it hadn't been for Cage he would have won.

Good point, but surely they could have done something else. Have them get the kamidogus or something. Or go with the original idea of Quan Chi stealing the amulet. I dunno.
The Scorpion stuff is painfully corny to read at this point. Making Scorpion the 'hulk' version of Hanzo was fucking retarded, and now its like a shitty, bizarre fan service where Hanzo is sick of Scorpion's simple "grrrr revenge" attitude and has to literally fight him in his own head. So dumb.

A lot of Scorpion was inspired by Ghost Rider, sooo... yeah it fits pretty well imo.

Only thing I liked in this chapter how Takeda handed Cassie and Jacqui's asses back to them. "You two are cute" - playah playah!
Where is Kung Jin in all this? They forgot him or something?
Betting my money Hanzo will save the day somehow. Maybe even take his revenant buddies Jax and Kuai Liang with him to Shang's island.

This takes place before Kung Jin joined the Wu Shi Academy. He's still at large.

The last proof needed to show how the average mk fan is never happy.
The comics are great. Hope to see a "season 2” soon.

Takeda getting bodied was what I was hoping for. It would've been so dumb if he wrecked everyone on his own. Of course it'll be D'Vorah and the Shokans that will have to step in now. With Scorpion coming somewhere down the line.
I lol'd at the Wicker Man reference.
I actually like Hanzo's inner conflict. I find those kind of battles to be the most entertaining. Here's hoping Hanzo beats Scorpion.
Also, I predict that by the end of this comic Erron Black will still be in the dungeon.

Isn't it kind of obvious that he does? Scorpion is full on human in MKX.

There are so many inconsistencies between the game and the comic I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Scorpion won.
