Hey guys,

A friend recently contacted the president of New Line Cinema in regards over their rights over the MK franchise.

The rumors are true: New Line does not have anymore rights to the MK franchise.

Read more about it and the full e-mail at the Mortal Kombat 3 Movie Page.

That's very good news. This basically means the next film won't be anything like MKA.

Things to get straight,
it doesnt matter if new line cinema has it or any other company, cause without newline we wouldnt of had the first mk movie and the second one was awful but it doesnt mean its newlines fault or everyone that worked/es there.John Tobias was one reason why is sucked, why you ask?well story lines in video games dont have to be great but they hired him to help write the second one along with joshua wexler and lawrece kasanoff.Their the reason why it sucked.Take the first one which was written by kevin droney. Then you got different directors so if you think about it,its not new lines fault but who they hired to write the story line so if you want to blame anyone blame the story line and in which you would also be blaming those 3 writers has well. And the movie could be worst then the second one so just hope they have great writers, producers,a very very good director and maybe just maybe it might be has good has the first one.And if anyone disagreeds with me ,thats cool but hey look it up and you know i am right.

Can't believe John Tobias would allow his own creation to be destroyed. What the hell was he thinking???

does this mean that the legal problems threshold were refering to cleared? so now, they can actually make the movie if they have enough money? still have my doubts though... nothing is certain until the official word comes out...

I don't know how the movie industry works, but I'm pretty sure Threshold has to find a new publisher first. Maybe Warner Bros perhaps? Who knows, but the script is supposedly very good, and the franchise is beginning to be resurrected, so let's just hope for the best.

There are plenty of companies Threshold could go to: WB, Dimension(my choice), Lions Gate, Universal(but after SF the movie...I wouldnt want them to).....who knows what will happen now...
