Does anyone else wish the MK creators went with Raiden's Conquest/movie personality instead of his current video game one? I don't dislike his character, but his video game self is just so... boring. I always enjoyed Raiden more after watching his Lambert/Meek adaptations; I felt they gave Raiden more spark. Of course, there were times I felt it was a little overkill, but between the two I'd still pick Conquest Raiden.

I understand his video game personality to an extent, though - he's a god with big responsibilities so perhaps it's in his nature to act rigid and formal and such. But I feel there is a happy medium. He wouldn't have to have his full Conquest personality but not his full video game personality (or lack of one) either; it could be a mix of the two: not too childish but not too lifeless, and still knowing when to be serious and take charge, no?

The movie/Conquest personality actually makes more sense storywise if you consider that this guy has been in charge of training mortals only to watch all of them but one fail for a thousand years straight. Who wouldn't be all sarcastic and cynical at that point?

Not to mention, he's not officially allowed to interfere, so he can't spell everything out for everybody or solve all their problems for them, he has to goad them into figuring out things for themselves.

So Movie/Conquest Raiden isn't just more entertaining, he's also a wiser and more successful teacher. Especially given how game-Raiden just spent an entire game repeatedly fumbling the ball and getting all his charges killed for nothing.

I agree. I liked Meek's Raiden. There's a scene where Kung Lao says something along the lines of, "So that's what you've come here to tell us? That the situation is hopeless and we're going to die?"

Raiden just looks at him and says: "Basically, yeah."

That too. I've always thought that Raiden picked up on the humans' attitudes and slang over the years, what with having to be around mortals as part of his duty and possibly having to blend in at times.

If anything, I feel as if Fujin should be the more serious god. Not to pass Video Game Raiden's boring personality onto him, but more so because isn't Fujin the less-expirienced god of the two? Meaning he'd probably be inclined to act more formal because he wants to live by his duties and hasn't yet been around humans long enough or cared enough about them to let their personalities influence him? This is more so personal speculation, though, since I've always pictured Fujin as the calmer, neutral god, with a slightly pompous air about him.

If only Raiden had been that blunt in MK9 ;)

As far as Fujin goes, I've always imagined that he'd be kind of an antisocial asshole, or at least more of an introvert with poor social skills. Unlike Raiden, this dude hasn't spent thousands of years walking amongst the mortals and protecting them. He's spent thousands of years living alone on a mountain guarding an amulet.
