Seriously, the movie is not canon and is base loosely, very loosely on the game's storyline. Hopefully, when the third movie comes out Rayden's family relations (except for Fujin) will not even be mentioned.

sometimes storylines have 2 b modified 2 make more sense in a movie, the movie makers would've wanted more interest in the characters themselves than the whole saving the world idea
