The story should start with Quan-Chi escaping from hell and him ganging up with Shang Tsung and Shinnok, they find the earth warriors having peace and begin destroying earthrealm, forcing Liu Kang to come (They give him a way into the other world) and fight while the other's are stuck on earth. Liu ends up getting ambushed by Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi just like in MK: DA and Shinnok watches as Liu beats the crap outta both of them but Quan manages to throw a sneak attack and hits Liu in the back with extreme might, Shang get's his chance to grapple Liu in a neckhold and breaks his neck, Shang takes his soul and adds it to his body gaining Liu's moves, powers, and mind. When the earth warriors are told by one of Liu's ancestors' descendants that if they do not fight then they will lose and earthrealm will be defeated by the superior power of Shinnok, Shang Tsung, and Quan-Chi. The mysterious Monk tells them that Liu was not the only last descendant of the great Kung Lao, but he is too. Meanwhile, Quan-Chi and Shang Tsung learn of the presence of Kung Lao's return and know that they will need more back-up, Shang and Quan then find the oni Moloch and make a deal with him to feed off of all the remainings of the Mortals if he defeats them in the Tournament Mortal Kombat. Moloch becomes their new compatant and begin their journey to defeat the earth warriors, while on their journey through the Portal realms they encounter an unusual cave and Quan uses his powers to read the strange mystical encryption on the wall, when he learns of a Great Dragon King and of his Undefeatable Army Quan burns the encryptions onto his body and makes another deal with shang that if he get s enough souls to bring back the Dragon King's army, he will open a portal to the heavens where shang can get unlimited souls which would leave him with a longer lifetime, Shang Tsung accepts the offer. While the earth warriors are trying to bring peace back to the world they encounter Nightwolf, they ask him if he can use his magic powers to talk to Liu Kang through the spirit world, Nightwolf tries and only gets a blank reply, waiting and waiting Nightwolf finally tries again and this time he get's a reply, Liu tells him that he cannot come back to life unless they somehow find a way to sneak into Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi's hideout and defeat shang in combat, if they succeed then Liu will return and fight against Quan and Shinnok. The earth warriors continue searching and finally find the hideout. Unaware of his own hidden power, Kung Lao explains to them that he is not nearly as powerful as the original ancestor of Liu but he will try his best and fight with his own might. Kung was the first defense against Shang and Quan but was unaware of the presence of the great oni and was caught off-guard by a sharp blow to the back of the head, Kung Lao was beaten senseless by the oni while shang and quan began their battle against the other earth warriors. Kitana, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Jax, Sub-Zero, and Raiden were no match for the team-up of the two powerful sorcerers. While Shang began collecting the souls and putting them into the decayed soldiers, Kung Lao still managed to stay on his feet against Moloch, Kung was eventually grappled by Quan-Chi while Moloch continuously beat him. Whenever Shang was finally finished with all of the souls he told quan-chi to open the portal to the heavens immediately, Quan-chi was able to see that the partner-ship between them had already ended, he commanded for Moloch to destroy the sorcerer at once. Enraged by his act, Shang Tsung attacked Quan-Chi but before he could do any damage Moloch picked Shang up by the throat, before Quan-Chi could warn him Moloch ripped the sorcerer in half. Souls from conquered warriors emerged from his body and escaped, Liu's spirit eventually emerged and returned to his original human form. Liu Kang and Kung Lao fought together and defeated Quan-Chi and Moloch and returned peace to earthrealm once more, Shinnok dissapeared that day and has not been seen since.
