They wanted Kids to be able to watch the movie when it first came out so they could make more money.
I wouldn't say there wasn't any gore in the first film.
When Cage was slicing Scorpion up with that circular shield thing, and then Scorp blew up, I would call that pretty gory.

compare a pg 13 movie from 95 with one from now. they should be able to do a lot more with the way ratings have relaxed.

Tim you right about the scorpion thing. But I think the color of blood etc. in movies makes it stand out and thats prolly why they didnt have any in the first.

I'm pretty certain the blood got frozen. It's like when Sub-Zero did his fatality by freezing a fighter and than blowing them up, there didn't seem to be any blood (I'm talking about the first game here).

I'm more interesed in seeing nice martial arts and flawless brutal fighting scenes than blood. Weither there's blood or not in the movies, that's not something I really give a damn about even if we're talking about Mortal Kombat. The movie and the games don't need to be exactly the same.

Mortal Kombat is popular for its brutal fatalities.

Hell the media complained about how gruesome it was because of the first game.. Then when the 2nd one was released, they were pissed off even more.Which I found funny as hell frankly lol.

There should be more blood and gore and more fatalities in the movie. And it should rated atleast R+ for a true MK movie.

I could care less about the blood, I think it would of made the classic MK1 one movie look gay and make MKA even more gay than it already was. The movies should focus on martial arts and making fans pleased with the actors playing their favorite characters.

For real though! I mean, isn't New Line kind of natorious for gore, anyway? Ex: Texas Chainsaw Massacar, Nightmare On Elm Steet, Friday the 13th (Well Friday doesn't really count 100% cuz they didn't always have that but still!) This is Mortal Kombat for crying out loud! WHERE'S THE BLOODY CHUNKS??? Stupid kids! I watch plenty of bloody films when MK came out and I turned out fine! (Shut up.) Up the rating! R R R R R!!!

Other tham that, the fighting's bitching!
