Awards given to the worst movies and actors of the year. Think like "The Anti-Oscars."

Just because Annihilation got no Razzie, does not make it any less than what it was: an abominable trainwreck.

Some decent fight scenes sure...but otherwise, minimal plot, God-awful acting and characterization, and overall a total butchering of the source material.

The razzies hardly deal with the REAL bad movies... Just like the oscars only deal with the more popular movies, the razzies usually ignore the very worst of the worst.

To make the Razzies it has to be Batman & Robin bad. Resident Evil 1 movie bad. The Princess Bride bad.

Annihilation isn't that good, but from what I saw, the problem was terrible plot (interpretation of characters and events) and some of the special effects (like how the portals were almost all some kind of liquid/gel)

Annihilation is definitely worse than Batman and Robin. And Resident Evil isn't bad at all, Resident Evil 2 is almost worse than MKA though.

Wow hadn't noticed this part before. MKA's problems were far from just ''interpretation of characters'' and liquid portals. Who gives a shit about the portals? Hell now that I think about it I think they looked great.

MKA had a horrible plot, horrible character development, horrible costumes, horrible editing, horrible acting, and horrible other stuff.

Razzies are short for Golden Raspberry Awards. They're usually reserved for big-name stars and higher-profile films.

Plus, Annihilation probably didn't get any nominations because it was a foregone conclusion that the movie was going to be awful.

Maybe the movie sucked so hard that razzie judges wouldn't want the name razzie stuck to this movie

No. Batman & Robin is definitely worse, as is Resident Evil (ALICE?!), and the worst of them Superman IV: The Quest For Peace. Now neither Annihilation nor the first film were good, but they pail in comparison to the shit storm that is these 3 movies.

Batman & Robin:
1. Nipples on the suits
2. Large amount of character inaccuracies
3. Puns
4. That damn car
5. the plot
6. the movie's version of Bane
7. George Cooleny as Batman (what the fuck?)
8. Robin
9. Batgirl's backstory
10. Batgirl's costume (if we got put up with Batsuit nipples, where the hell are her's?)
And a hell of lot more.

Superman IV:
1. Worse than Batman & Robin and Mortal Kombat and MK: Annihilation combined
2.The plot revolves around superman fighting a radioactive Bizzaro creature to save his hair.
3.The effects.
4.Superman's a dick
and a hell of a lot more.

Resident Evil:
1.Alice
2. No Spencer Mansion
3. Paul W.S. Anderson (why man, why must you do this?!)
4. No Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, Brad Vickers,Rebecca Chambers, and Albert Wesker and I suppose Chris Redfield. or any of the other S.T.A.R.S. team members.
5. No Hunters
6. No birds
7. No giant snakes
8. No giant spiders
9. None of the normal suspense that Zombies bring
10.No T-002 Tyrant
11. Alice is a bastardization of Jill, Chris, Ada, Rebecca, Claire, Eliza, Wesker, and Hunk.
12. A mother fucking Licker in Resident Evil 1!
13. No mansion exploding.
14. Plot is wrong
15. T-Virus backstory is wrong
and a hell of a lot more.

Resident Evil worse than MKA? You're out of your mind.

Your reasons for what made RE a bad movie are stunning too. No Jill Valentine? That's why it's bad? That doesn't make any sense.

No offense, but this has to be one of the WORST list of reasons why RE sucked as a movie. I for one think it was a good movie... And Albert Wesker is supposedly announced to be the fourth and final RE movie, so...

That's like saying a movie's good because it got an Oscar. Mortal Kombat Armageddon was an insult to the work of cinema. I wanted to wash the evil from my eyes. The very thought of it makes me sick to my stomach. BTW I didn't like any of the RE movies. The writers just said "Fuck it! I'm not researching the storyline of the game!, I'm going to pull this out my ass and piss off die-hard fans while using sex-appeal and violence to woo everyone else" Like I say time and time again. A movie should never be based on a video game. EVER!! Video games in themselves are stories. I don't get what fans want in the movie! If its going to be exactly like the game, why watch the movie? If its going to be nothing like the game, why not create an original title without using the name of another franchise?

I thought it was a decent game, I don't think it's that bad that even the movie industry should be insulted!
Aha. Right.

Anyway, I disagree with you DrZoidberg, and I think the first MK and RE movies are great examples of how it can be done right.

I LOVE the approach that was given to RE, because I'm a huge fan of the games. The first movie had nothing to do with the first game - and that's PERFECT, because -like you said- why would I want to see the story that I already know in and out? I already know it's a virus, I already know it's Umbrella, I already know there's secret labs, I already know Barry was blackmailed by Wesker who will betray S.T.A.R.S.
But, in the first RE movie, they never do anything to contradict the games (or nothing seriously relevant anyway). They simply introduce original characters, cool ones too, put them in a simmilar environment to that of the games, and have things happen in a completely different way.
There you go: Surprising new story and characters, without damaging the original in any way. They took stuff from the original (soldiers trapped in a secret lab under a mansion, facing zombies and monsters) and added some extra cool stuff, like the evil computer, the laser hall (which has since been copied by the games because of how badass it is), and a new perspective on RE events.

The second movie though, yeah. It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

As for the first MK, it did a good job as well because a fighting game doesn't have the kind of narrative an adventure game or a movie has, so it didn't feel redundant even if you had beaten the games.
It was also done in a way different from the games (no emphasis on gore, different character backstories, different events), but it was done so well that some things went on to become part of the games (like the 10 tournament rule, and Johnny Cage's rivalry with Goro).

So in my opinion yeah, movies based on video games absolutely have their place.
They just need to be done right.

This seems to be a common misconception, so I thought I would address this here.

John Tobias had come up with the 10-tournament rule thing, and it was shown the MKII comic (written well before the movie scripts ever were) so I thought I would post a scan of the panel detailing this here:
